1982, hell I was already well into my 20s.....Thanks to my older brother who introduced me to The Who, LZ, Cream, and other great bands when I was in ELEMENTARY school, I was already a HUGE Who fan. Now? I'm ancient. Somehow along the way, I blew out my liver, survived a mild bout with cancer, and bested two heart attacks. I like to think that these boys and their High-Test piss-and-vinegar music helped me along the way. Now I am old and just wealthy enough to own a wonderfully outrageous stereo system that I could only dream about in high school. So, I get to enjoy it all over again and exactly the way it was SUPPOSED to sound. I sure do hope my neighbors like them. Thanks Gents!

Pete is a monster guitar player and I love his intensity. However, there were a few other great players at Woodstock, including Hendrix and Mr. Santana. I think Carlos' 50-year career has been amazing. Only the Rolling Stones and Santana have had a Top Ten album in SIX different decades. That's pretty impressive. This is meant only to show that great guitarists like Santana, Townshend, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Al DiMeola, Hendrix, Clapton and others compliment each other. They're not in competition. One is not greater than the other. We all have our favorites and yours, Pete Townshend, is among the best!

26 years old here born in the mid to late 1990s. My earliest memories are riding in my dads 1993 dodge pickup truck blaring THE WHO on the cassette deck, the cars, tears for fears, guns n roses, phill Collins, Steve earl, the list goes on. So many older people are amazed at what I listen to. Strictly 70s 80s 90s music. This kind of music has a soul, not made to make money. Times were different and I am jealous of every person who go to experience the 1980s as an adult such a magical time it seemed to be from the outside looking in. It’s a put on.

I was playing this song over and over real loud in my room when I was a kid and my stepdad opened the door and yelled "Turn this sh*t off!". I turned the volume down at first, but I gradually turned it up over an hour or so. He burst into my room and picked up my stereo and smashed it on the ground - and it didn't turn off! He tried again and it kept on playing - even louder! This went on for about 5 minutes and he eventually gave up. He's in prison now for writing bad checks.

I remember him looking at the Jim Morrison poster on my wall with the denim shirt and aviators, and him saying to me "I worry that you like him". I remember him looking at my Cheap Trick poster and telling me Rick Neilson looks like a fag lol. Old men just don't get it. I’m pretty sure won’t have been!! It happened all the time when singers wanted to join in on a guitar, which then results in the real guitarists ganging up and telling the roadies to “under no circumstances plug his ******* guitar in!!!” I know of one definite instance of this happening from the horse’s mouth as I recently saw Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden do a live talk about his life and career, which he hilariously told us about the only time he smashed up a guitar! It took place at the Rock in Rio festival after he’d had blazing row with a unbeknown to him Portuguese only speaking crew member about the fact he was sure his guitar wasn’t coming through the amps, etc. After getting nowhere he smashed his guitar up in a fit of rage only to see the entire band laughing their asses off at him before revealing that they’d never plugged it in since hearing him play the first show after stupidly agreeing to his request! I always love hearing such stories and generally reveals so many things you always suspected go on behind the scenes!!

@@GrieseTrailCams Pete…as always!!! Lol You can see Roger strumming his guitar all the way through but after years of hearing this version I can still only hear Pete, Rabbit’s keyboards, John’s bass…and obviously Kenney Jones!

This may be their best performance of this iconic song. PT’s guitar work is ridiculous, the lyrics are sublime. Love be this.

We had great seats for a show in Tampa. They came out and started the show, but Daltrey had a problem with his throat and couldn't sing well enough to continue. Pete came out and told us they couldn't go on, and would come back when Roger was healthy and give us a kick ass show. The crowd gave them an ovation, and a couple months later, they gave us one of the best concerts I've been to in my 65 years. Long live The Who. Long live Rock & Roll.
