The two theories behind the TLC references are, Captain Gene drove his son to college and his son played a TLC greatest-hits CD the whole time but the captain was never aware what he was listening to OR because he worked at Bed, Bath, and Beyond he heard the songs while he was working but didn't know they were stuck in his head. The director says it the first one and Keaton says it the 2nd one. Honestly it could be both, he heard it driving his kid to college and while he was work at BBB.

This is one of the more original comedies I've ever seen and it's saying a lot given how common buddy cop comedies are. After seeing the end credits, I wasn't surprised to see that Adam McKay's (director /cowriter) next project was "The Big Short" - a film which takes you into the financial crisis of 2007-2008. It's really entertaining with a fantastic cast. I highly recommend it.
@jrepka015 ай бұрын
Yeah, that was the theme of the movie that many missed. That we make action movies where the bad guys are drug dealers, terrorists, or criminals trying to rob Fort Knox, where cops like these destroy major parts of a city (and presumably kill many) just to stop them. Meanwhile the people are being robbed blind by corporations and bankers. That the movie wasn't as successful as other Ferrell outings assured that The Big Short (and later, Vice and Don't Look Up) would be made.

I saw this flick randomly on X'mas Eve late at night in 2010 when I was by myself as my girlfriend at the time was at her parent's house since I was working all day and night. I was going to drive over there the next morning and put this on expecting something light and dumb knowing zero about it and ended up howling the whole time. It's basically a perfect comedy between the dialogue, the editing, the tone, and virtually everything else. When Rock and Sam Jackson lept from the building to splat on the cement so anticlimactic, I had to pause it because I burst out laughing. Like other McKay comedies such as Step Brothers, a film critic put it best when describing it as a very intelligent comedy trapped in a dumb movie, and it works whole. I love you guys caught this one and enjoyed it too because for the longest time, this flick got seemingly no traction or attention which was a shame.

He got noticed among the mainstream audiences with his character of Titus Pullo in Rome, an HBO original series set during the later years of the Republic before Caesar returned from war and crossed the Rubicon with his army, which at the time, was an illegal act and that which solidified his rule as imperator (dictator).
