...Iommi was burned out and suffering writer’s block. Only when the band relocated to Clearwell Castle in Gloucestershire - where they believed they saw ghosts - did Iommi rediscover his mojo. The castle’s creepy aura inspired the first song he wrote for the album: its title track, featuring not one but two of his greatest riffs. - Loudersound

@@cmichael6117 It's a matter of opinion. I think Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath is just as good as anything before. I realize that early 70s Black Sabbath is tops. I agree maybe they should have taken a break or something for creative purposes by Sabotage but their music was still tight and better than a lot at the time, imo. Ronnie Dio era was a great transition for them at the same time Ozzy was putting out his classic material.

Yes, they pioneered Heavy Metal. Tony Iommi (guitarist) lost the tips of his middle and ring fingers on his right hand (which was his fret-board hand since he’s left handed) which caused him to develop a technique that would ultimately become the sound of heavy metal. He’s considered to be one of the best rock guitarist of all time…and is regarded by many of the other rockers and metal heads in the industry as the ultimate riff master.

Black Sabbath albums are all full of hidden gems. Ozzy is their lead vocals on the first 9 albums but he did very little song writing. He was let go due to excessive drug use. Tony Iommi (Guitarist) is unofficially the band leader. He co-founded the band & wrote most of the music. Geezer Butler (Bassist) wrote much of the lyrics. Bill Ward (Drummer) is the co-founder of Black Sabbath, along with Tony Iommi.

You've killed it with these reactions today with 3 great songs. You hit the nail on the head with this band when you point out how talented the whole band is. Ozzy is Ozzy, Tony Iommi is just a killer guitar player, Bill Ward is one of the best drummers in rock, and Geezer Butler is an amazing bass player. For a great example of Geezer's base try their song "N.I.B" which also has some great guitar work. As far as just a strait up heavy song "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" is probably their heaviest. The riff in the second half will shake the entire house. As a teen if I wanted that cathartic energy metal brings, I would listen to either "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath," Metallica's "Sad But True" or Judas Priest's "The Rage." Yes it's true, Ozzy did bite the head off a bat. Someone threw an unconscious bat on stage and Ozzy assumed it was a rubber bat (I mean who brings an actual bat to a concert) and he bit the head off of it thus leading to one of the most legendary stories in rock history.

A great song from Sabbath's golden era. As for Ozzy, he did bite the head of a bat in Des Moines. But, it was thrown on stage a he thought it was a rubber bat. He immediately threw it back in disgust in the crowd but, the myth grew from there. It was during Diary Of A Madman in 1982 while no longer in Sabbath.

not sure on the time but it was sometime during the sabbath days, and this goes along with the bat story, the band was at a photo shoot and they gave them some tamed doves to hold, and Ozzy stuck the dove's head in his mouth and the dove bit his tongue, so in the photos he was holding a dove and had blood coming out of his mouth starting the rumor that he had bitten the doves head off, when in fact it was the opposite the bird bit him. so in his early solo career this was what started people tossing rubber bats on stage which he would bite the heads off of, so thats what led to the mishap of accidentally picking up a real bat that had been stunned and fell on stage. perhaps someone threw it, or what sometimes happens in these big arenas, is some bats will take up living inside and when the loud music starts it stuns them and they fall to the ground, since they rely on echolocation.

It was amazing! ❤ Guitarist Tony Iommi and bass player Geezer Butler were in the audience, also a gentleman named Robert Plant who you may also have heard of 😉. The final scene was set to the song 'Paranoid' and half way through the dancers moved to the side of the stage and Tony Iommi himself walked on, playing the iconic riff to Paranoid ❤. Great song, Great album, glad you guys listened to that. There's a lot of classic Sabbath to dive into. Guys, Black Sabbath was just as big, if not bigger than Ozzy solo. Remember, this wasn't his band. He was a member of Black Sabbath. Those other three guys were just as important to that band as Ozzy. The master riff man himself Tony Iommi on guitar, thunder bass of Geezer Butler & the pounding drums of Bill Ward. How about some Sabbath Bloody Sabbath next. Also it's the Halloween season coming up. How about the song Black Sabbath . It's a great song for the Halloween mix.

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath... the whole album is 🔥. Also the first concert I ever went to at 14 - the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath tour. Probably the first contact high I ever experienced. ✌️

A deep cut by Sabbath that is amazing is "Hand of Doom" off of Paranoid. A post Ozzy Black Sabbath song that kicks is "Zero the Hero" featuring Ronnie James Dio on vocals. Almost any song featuring Ozzy when they started was great in my opinion. After Ozzy and the rest of Sabbath parted ways (ok lets just say he got kicked out of the band because of his extra curricular activities involving drugs and booze, not to mention his erratic behavior because of said extra curricular activities), Ozzy went solo and got this kid to play for him, his name was Randy Rhoades. You have to check out some of Ozzy's stuff with him. Randy Rhoades was an amazing guitarist, unfortunately he died very young but check out the song "Crazy Train" or "Mr. Crowley".

Well, technically they did part ways at first. And the band brought in Dave Walker (Savoy Brown, Humble Pie, Fleetwood Mac) to replace him. But then Ozzy came back, they redid Dave's songs, finished the album (Never Say Die), did the tour…and *then* they fired him.

"Whatcha gonna do?" Hand of Doom is a great cut! Have to point out that Zero the Hero off Born Again was sung by Ian Gillan.

Growing up in my early twenties and listening to Black Sabbath was just Awesome! That and Deep Purple and all the other bands were so Fantastic, you could never duplicate that era! Ozzy was a showman, there was no cult or anything bad about him, it was just for show, to sell his shows but many thought he was a devil worshiper and that was totally not true. We had just come out of the "Hippie" Years and That was a totally different Era in itself! You would have to have lived it to understand it. That and we also just came out of an unwanted war as in Vietnam. You have to understand, that Era affected Everyone! To have survived it would be the understatement! I'm in my late 60's and just starting to "Chill Out" but still catch myself listening to Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, Jimi, Janis and the Old Gang of recording artists, Far Out Man! Regardless! So Wired! I can almost smell the mary jane in the air! I'm Frekin'" Hey Guy's, I listen to yall many times and you two Crack Me Up! Oh, that song American Pie, you two missed it! The song is about Buddy Holly and how he died, and he says the music died with him. He listens to the new artists coming up and describes how it's all wrong, that we went astray with the good old songs. Listen to it again and the artists he describes, unless it's all before your time which it may be over your heads. Catch you later Apollo

Crazy great album, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath! And this song is the best together with Sabbra Cadabbra and the amazing album closer Spiral Architect. One of the most solid records in rock history!

The Beatles Helter Skelter is know as the first metal song which is on the White Album recorded in 1968. They never recorded a song like that again but if you listen to it you’ll hear exactly what I’m talking about. Paul wrote HS and as usual sings his butt off with amazing grit and emotion. Keep rocking and rolling and you’ll never go wrong. 🕊❤️🎼
