I love David Pack He just lost his beautiful wife to Breast Cancer. Stay strong, brother. He did an amazing duet with Alan Parsons from the Alans Parsons Project for charity. It is a cover of a Beatles song called If I Fell. You guys will love it. On the same charity event, that was done during the lock down for the virus, Peter Noone, lead singer for Herman's Hermits did a Hermits hit song with his daughter at home called Kind of A Hush. Both of these songs are worth checking out!!

This music used to be called soft rock. Then, years later it became known as yacht rock. You know what I call it? Music comfort food. Cracker Barrel for the ears. You can listen to this just to chill, when it’s a rainy day, you just got home after a long flight, or go out for a late night drive and it’s so soothing.
@daveowens9849

I hate that term Yacht Rock. Too elitist for me. Most of us will never own a yacht, or be on a yacht, so why brand the music something it isn't and will never be? Hate that term.

@@Sweetish_Jeff_ Amen! The only tv show about a yacht that I remember was "Gilligan's Island" and even if I'm marooned with Ginger and Mary Ann, I'm not getting on that boat. I'll be danged if I understand why the term "yacht rock" is attached to music that was recorded twenty years before that elitists term was created. Sink the boat!

I like your description of late-night-drive songs....much better than 'yacht rock'. The first time I heard this song, as well as George Benson's "Give me the Night", was the first time I came to the USA, and my family and I were on the way from the airport to our family friend's home to stay for a few days before catching our flight from PIT to JFK and then onward. Of course it was a night time drive. Up to that point I'd only heard pop and rock when someone played it at a friend's house or a party, but both of those songs were just past current, and it amazed me that you had many radio stations playing cool tunes at all times of the day! Like going to JFK and having a few-hour layover but never being far from a place to get something to eat, even back in 1980, haha. I'm a citizen of the USA now and I'll always associate what they used to call soft rock with the late night drive, but as a grown-up it's with a hot cup of coffee in the holder in case I need it to keep me rolling, my traveling companion breathing softly in her sleep in the passenger seat, only a few more hours to go before hotel or home, and that feeling of deep calm and peace. It's so hard to come by, but I know at least one place I can find it.

I met Ambrosia back in 2006. One of my friends was in charge of gong to the airport to pick up the band. He asked me if I wanted to meet them. I said yes! I said I wanted to sing with them as well. True to his word, he found me at the concert. He took me to meet the band. I went inside to their trailer. Met the entire band. Then the singer said: so, we heard that you want to sing with us? I was half joking when I told my friend. He told the band I wanted to sing with them. Less than 5 minutes of meeting them, they asked me to sing for them. This was the song I chose. I was harmonizing with the band. They told me that they'd call me on stage to sing with them you're the the biggest part of me. I'm like oh my gosh! We hung out and had wine and cheese and crackers. Then they had to get ready to perform. I took my seat and sat and waited watching the concert. True to their word, I was called on stage. I sang, rather did the harmonizing part of the song. After song I was trying to get off the stage. The singer said ANGIE!!!! I got back on stage. Everyone took hold of hands and we all did a bow. I will not EVER forget this. I went home after concert. The following Monday my friend said they asked where I went after concert. I didn't know I could've hung out with them after. I was just on a natural high from doing something amazing and special. These guys are absolutely amazing, kind and funny!

Musts that I can't believe that they have not listen to yet are "Love Ballad" by L.T.D., "That's The Way of the World" and "After The Love Is Gone" by Earth, Wind & Fire. They never have done a song by The Stylistics yet. There are so many others they need to hear.

Beautiful Mellow song. Always a listen when I'm in a mellow relaxing mood. As others have already said "Holdin' On To Yesterday" by Ambrosia is a wonderful early song by them that you will enjoy. David Pack also has a solo song that many forget to mention that is just wonderful "That Girl Is Gone". Some other soft rock or mellow songs by other artists that you will also enjoy would be "Goin' Down" by Greg Guidry (1982), "Is It You" by Lee Ritenour featuring Eric Tagg (1981), "You Belong To Me" by Carly Simon (1978), "Moonlight Feels Right" by Starbuck (1976), "Cab Driver" by Daryl Hall (1996). You have not listened to Chris Isaak in a long long time and I suggest "Can't Do A Thing (To Stop Me)" (1993) by him. To get back to James Taylor at some point he has great songs like "Shower The People", "Handy Man" and "Her Town Too" that you will enjoy. For a real rare treat I would suggest "Love You Out of Your Mind" (1981) by Byrne & Barnes an American music duo consisting of Robert Byrne and Brandon Barnes. There are so many others but these I think you will enjoy for a start.

Holdin’ On to Yesterday is a killer track by Ambrosia! Has a jazzy, cosmic feel to it……just listen and tell us what you think.

These soul-esque ballads by Ambrosia are just 1 side of their stuff...you should explore their proggy side with songs like "Danse With Me George" or "Cowboy Song" or songs from their 1982 hard rocking "Road Island"...your minds will explode...

This song has one of the best musical breaks... textbook, should be taught/an example in songwriting school.

Another fantastic 70's band that you've barely listened to yet is Firefall. I really, really think you'll dig "Just Remember I Love You." "Strange Way" is another fave from them. But DEF listening to JRILY :)

They stole my heart back in the 70s💕 love your range of genres, never know what to expect. Their guitar player is awesome in Holdin on to Yesterday Another soft playing group who had my heart especially the sax player who’s a banger by himself - please react to Classics IV, my fave is “Spooky”

I realized how lucky I was to live in the 70s and the 80s. There was such a massive catalog of music out there to listen to you could spend days just going through it. It seems like every song on the radio was a great one, still is from those eras! It was a fun fun time. Thank God we can go back and listen to it whenever we want.
