I had the smarts, but, I wasn't smart enough to do well in school. I could have taken my education further, I could have pursued any career I wanted, but, I enjoyed working with my hands. So I had one physical job after another until I got a job with a major oil company. And now after a 38 years as a refinery operator I have finally retired. Financially, I'm in great shape, physically not so much, pretty much hobbled. So with that bit of self pity out of the way, I can say that the Bob Seger that gets too me the most is "Like A Rock."

@@tsgeisel it's funny you mention that. Bill Payne of Little Feat was the guest piano player on "Hollywood Nights", and after they finished recording, Bob Seger let him take a copy of the song home with him. Bill put it on while driving on the highway, and before he knew it, he was driving 120 mph. There are songs that bring that out of you, you can't help it!

Love your reactions to the great music of Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band! I'm with you for all of them! The first time I went to a Bob Seger concert in the mid-70's, it was at an outdoor arena (Tampa Stadium). You could buy tickets for the bleachers/seats, or being down on the field with no seats. The field was always my choice because I wanted to be able to slowly work my way closer to the stage & maybe even get close enough to get a hand slap, as I called it, or catch a guitar pick or maybe even a t-shirt on a good day. There were 4 acts that day, but seriously, I can't tell you any of the other bands because Bob & the Silver Bullet Band blew all of the other bands out of the water! I had never heard of them but their show that day made me a Bob Seger fan for life. Since then I've seen them in concert so many times and was lucky to see them for the final time in 2019. Sadly, their amazing sax player, Alto Reed, passed away in Dec. 2022 from cancer. Thank goodness we have so many great ways to remember some of the best music from the 60', 70' & beyond, right here on KZbin. Thanks again for your reactions, I really enjoy hearing both of you give your thoughts! 😊

My absolute favorite Seger song and lyric…full of so many beautiful observations- ‘stood alone on a mountaintop’ ‘spoke to the faintest first starlight,’everything about this takes you on the journey. You feel it and the music carries you, up and down those roads. The piano player was mentioned-though in this video it is Silver Bullet member Craig Frost, the studio version is Roy Bittan from the East Street Band. It actually started off more mid-tempo, but during a studio break they turned it into THIS! ‘Nuff said!

My 20 year old daughter at the time bought tickets for the two of us to see Bob Seger in 2019 for his Roll Me Away final tour for Father’s Day! It was an unforgettable concert in his hometown of Clarkston, Mi. It was so great to have that time with my daughter since she’s been away to college. Great bonding time on our 5 hour ride there from the Chicago area, had an amazing time at the concert, then rode all the way back home talking about the concert and catching up on life! It was the greatest gift ever!!! Bob Seger rocked and Alto Reed basically stole the show with his powerful Sax! We were both shocked and saddened to hear of his passing the very next year. R.I.P. This song played over the end credits of Mask (with Cher and Sam Elliott. Not The Mask with Jim Carey). That was the first time I heard it and it instantly became my favorite Bob Segar song. I’d like to suggest Mask for a future Movie Monday or Film Friday. Bob Segar’s music is played throughout. Of course there is also a version with Bruce Springsteen’s music as well. Springsteen was the director’s original choice. They couldn’t get the rights initially.

It's really unfortunate that there is so little footage of Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band on stage. They were a superb live act. Catch them doing 'Get Out Of Denver' live. Smoking!

You can tell when watching him perform that he totally feels it, it becomes him.

I got yje 45 single of this, as soon as I heard it on the radio, in 1983. Saw Seger and the SB-band live twice -they were awesome! Believe that Bob has retired, from tours, his age, and death of his friend, and Sax player, Alto Reed, a few years back.Seger has been a great influence on music -will always be remembered!

Absolutley my favorite artist of all time. His songs are just as relevant today as they were when they were released and will continue to be that way.

This song was used in the film Mask with Cher and Sam Elliot. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it to react to on your movie channel.

Roll Me Away is a beauty, you can see the story unfold as he sings, the music colors in the rest. Its his thing. If you want an adrenaline kick try The Fire Inside. You'll be burning alright!!!!
