I crushed on Donny before I even knew what boys were. Lol I was 5 years old when Puppy Love would come on the radio when I was getting ready for school. I would put my ear right up to the speaker of the radio and be in heaven. Other than Donny, I didn't like boys at that age! Lol

Donny and Marie in their later teen years had a network variety show "The Donny and Marie Show" where they had musical numbers with guests and comedy skits. They had a regular segment on their show where they sang an intro where Marie sang "I'm a little Country" and Donny would answer with "I'm a little Rock and Roll" and they sang duets of each type of song which were covers of popular songs of the time. They were good together and their careers went long after the main group with the older brothers faded away....but the whole family appeared on Christmas Specials singing together and reprising their old act.

Yes I remember there variety show quite. But come on you have to admit that it really was not very good. Actually it was way too Goody Goody for any consideration as far as quality on TV. If you were young when that TV show was on I'm sure you would have liked it and that is the difference between a show standing on its own merits and fans that like anything a certain person does. If you are around 14 years old at the time this show was on TV I'm sure you have great fond memories. To anyone older than that age we generally found it to be just a little bit too Goody Goody.

I watched an interview of the Osmonds where the brothers explained how they could all play so many instruments and dance so well. The family didn’t have a lot of money so each brother went to different types of music lessons and then they would return home and teach the rest of the family what they just learned. They spoke of having to pay close attention in their lessons because their family was depending on them to explain what to do. I remember Alan also took karate lessons and he incorporated some of those moves into their choreography. The plan worked; they all became proficient enough to play multiple instruments although they each specialized on certain ones. Any way you look at it, they’re incredibly gifted but they invested a ton of sweat equity by practicing. They have such a work ethic. They’re known as “the one-take Osmonds” because they’re so well rehearsed that they perform perfectly the first time and don’t need more takes.

The harmonies were amazing, and they all play multiple instruments. At one point they all played saxaphone at the same time. Truly great, talented performers!

Merrill Osmond was the lead singer of the Osmond Brothers for the most part. LOVED the Osmonds back in the day. Donny was a very hard working guy. In the mid-70s, he was taping his show with Marie, recording an album with his brothers, a solo album, and a Donny and Marie album at night and the weekends, and touring on the weekends. He slept whenever he could, on the bus, on the plane, while getting a haircut, etc. I'd suggest listening to the harmonies he did with Marie. They were really born to sing together. Try Gone, The Umbrella Song, Sing, or Make the World Go Away.. Gone is my favorite. They start the first note, "Since," in unison, and then split into harmony on "you're gone...", and it sounds like one voice. You can't tell who is who, or even that there are two people singing. NOTHING like sibling harmony.

This was a ginormous hit in 1970, along with their other big hit, "One Bad Apple." I had just "left the nest" and set off on my life's journey in the Summer of '70 and was working in Tulsa as a disc jockey at one of America's top Top 40 stations, "The Big 97," KAKC. We played the ever-lovin' snot out of this record. Then the Osmonds came to town and played the big concert arena in Tulsa. Being with the radio station that was presenting the show, I was more or less obligated to go, even though the Osmonds weren't exactly my cup of tea. (Teeny-bopper kiddy band.) But I went. And I believe today, 53 years later, my ears are still ringing from the experience. I never had the privilege of seeing The Beatles perform live, but we've all seen the footage of the Beatles' adoring fans -- all those teenage girls, screaming and shrieking their lungs out. Well, attending this Osmonds concert was pretty much the same, except the ages of the screaming girls was, on average, about 5 years younger. It was the teenage girls and their younger pre-teen sisters who attended this show (and the poor unsuspecting boyfriends who had to endure it). For the duration of the show, I couldn't hear a single note the band played over the din off all the screaming girls. And whenever little Donny Osmond stepped up to the mic, it was so loud, you couldn't hear yourself think. I've sat in the front row of some very loud rock concerts, including Yes, Emerson Lake & Palmer, and Paul McCartney & Wings, but none of those shows left me feeling like I might never regain my hearing again quite like that Osmonds concert did. There's no denying the talent these guys possessed. And I know they were wizards in the studio. But I have always considered that concert to be one of the two worst concerts I ever attended (the worst being Steppenwolf in Kansas City, KS in 1969). But honestly, in 1970, if you were an 11 or 12 year old girl, I'm sure this record was right up your alley, and you probably had covers of 16 Magazine with Donny Osmond's face on the cover tacked up on your bedroom wall. Me? When i got home from that concert, I just wanted to wash off.

I saw Donny perform as Joseph in the play Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He was amazing!!! At one point they fly him over the audience and they had to stop him mid flight as the technicians controlling him could not hear anything over the noise of the crowd. Everyone was on their feet screaming and cheering. Donnie eventually had to motion with his hands for everyone to sit down. Only then were they able to continue on with the play.

Guys you've gotta do "Yo Yo" from their appearance on The Flip Wilson Show, 1971, just mere months before Donny's voice changed. Incredible performance. The tune and vocals are hot and the choreography is off the chart. It's my absolute fave. Can't count how often I've pulled that up to get my smile for the day. Additionally, you ought to do "Side by Side", the one from Disneyland After Dark, which is from when they were just starting out. It's just the older brothers in a quartet and they are SOOOOO little and SOOOO CUTE! Unbelievable ability to harmonize and charm.

By the time this appearance was filmed, Donny's voice had started changing, and he couldn't hit those notes anymore. Lazy River was recorded in 1971, and Merrill, the lead singer, was 18 when this was recorded. He was 18 and had a voice like that. "Crazy Horses" features the drummer, Jay, on lead vocal. Jay was about 17 or 18 when they recorded it. It's rare for young guys to have this kind of vocal power at that age. Love the reaction. Peace!

Righteously good in more ways than one. Grew up watching this wholesome family and their musical career. My best friend from first grade is a Mormon and he now is a Mormon Bishop. We always got together when they came on TV. My favorite was Donnie just like most of America. Very large family the youngest boy not shown was Jimmy and of course Marie being the only sister who teamed up with Donny to make the Donny & Marie show. Catchy phrase" I'm a little bit country and I'm a little bit rock and roll ". Donnie always wore his purple socks. Yes someone else was doing it before Prince. What a lot of people don't know. The eldest boys in the family were actually deaf. But they could sure dance. And why the youngest one's sang. Sorry, it was late I've been sick. Blessed be. Puppy love you got to do puppy love next

That was fun! They actually wrote this song and many others. Merrill is the lead singer there and Jay is the drummer along with Wayne with the low voice /guitarist and Alan(to the left of Merrill)..., also on the guitar too. Alan, the oldest of the grp, was the leader. Merrill usually plays the bass & of course you know Donny on the piano/ synthesizer. And yes.. they played many different instruments too. Their mother helped them learned the🎷🎷🎷🎷since she played a lot when she was young in bands. Another fact is that the Led Zeppelin Band was taken by some of the music too. You should also check out their other album called The Plan. Finally, there are 9 of them..altogether with 2 old brothers who are deaf..(who taught them some of their dance moves)..their sister named Marie, (verse in many genres of singing too)..& Jimmy the youngest of the group. In fact, Jimmy, helped MJ with his Bad Tour. He was/is a successful Businessman as well. You can call their father the manager who made sure of where and when they played. They were all friends with Elvis too! So much so that they darn some of those jumpsuits according to his suggestion. Anyway.. here's a link to one of those 🎞's of Crazy Horses they wrote..Enjoy🎶🎤🕺📺: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4nGm2uae7SXZ6c

You should have seen them tap dancing in the early 60’s. Donny made his tv debut at the age of 5. Marie had her debut at the age of 3.

Hard to believe they had 2 more siblings waiting in the wings, Jimmy and Marie. Jimmy joined his brothers in the group, and Marie had a successful solo career in country. She and Donny had their own variety show on TV for several years, and they got back together years later as adults and had a show in Vegas for years. You can still see Marie on commercials for Nutri System on TV.

The Osmond Brothers were very much a tweenie bopper favorite in their heyday. Widely relegated to the bubble-gum category. Yet their talent was sophisticated in that they'd been singing together for years & years prior to this release. I was a 10-yr-old fan prior to growing a bit older and getting into 3 Dog Night, Elton John, etc. I still smile when I hear their stuff, though. Crazy Horses is what I consider their biggest attempt at a harder, edgier sound.

Check out the Osmonds performing Yo Yo (when they're wearing the black Elvis suits). It's great. Also, check out their beautiful sister Marie singing her duet with Dan Seals "Meet Me in Montana".

Oh gosh .. u know I clicked on this as fast as I could. Like I've commented B4 .. the 1st 45 single record I ever bought with my allowance (preteen about 9/10) was Donny Osmond's "Puppy Love". I crushed hard on him back then. I wore the groove outta that record. Lol Thnx for getting.g back to the Osmonds so quick. The Osmonds & The Jackson 5 were huge at the same time. We loved them all ❣️

Thank you so much for reacting to more of The Osmonds! All their songs always takes me back to the 70’s, with my bedroom plastered with Osmonds posters, listening to their albums on my portable record player. Lol ☺️🥰 I’m 60 now 😳,and still a huge fan… especially of Donny. Please react to more, and some of Donny’s solo music as well. Love your channel! 🎶 ❤️

So glad you are digging the Osmonds! I'm loving watching you reacting to them! And this song -- Down By the Lazy River is one that the Osmonds actually wrote themselves, along with Crazy Horses and the other songs on that album.

👏👏👏👏I am so happy you reacted to this song! I love this song and that is Merrill singing lead, Donny on Keyboards, on the guitars Left to Right they are Alan and Wayne and then there is Jay on the drums! I think "Yo Yo" by the Osmonds should be next. "Crazy Horses" that's a song about vehicle air pollution, the horsepower that creates pollution. I can't be too sure about that one, but older siblings must know more than I do! Yes, Marie Osmond is their one and only sister! She can sing too! May we suggest you give her a try on Female Friday with the song "Paper Roses" Enjoyed your reaction! ☮💕👏

I was about 10 or 11 when The Osmonds were first becoming popular in the early 70s and let me tell you I had it bad for Donny! I had my wedding to him all planned out! I remember seeing them on a tv show, one of the popular variety shows from back then, and they had on these black jumpsuits with colorful belts, stylishly hitched to the side across their hips of course, with these long fringe tassel things hanging down...and when those boys did their moves, all us girls would just faint dead away!! There's a video here on KZbin from the Cher Show where she had the Osmonds on as guests and they do a Stevie Wonder tribute medley of songs. It's really good and the most 70s thing you can see. Search up Cher Osmonds Superstitious and you will se it. Donny and Marie later had their own variety show too.

This is a musical family!! The interesting thing is that this family started performing in order to buy hearing aids for their 2 oldest brothers who were born deaf!! Can you imagine being a member of a musical family and not being able to hear or sing!?!

Merrill was the lead singer. Jay is on the drums, Alan and Wayne on guitars. The Osmonds have continued in their careers until just recently. I believe Donny and Marie both still perform. Donny had a successful solo career starting with doing covers of songs from the 50’s/60’s such as Go Away Little Girl, Puppy Love, Pretty Blue Eyes The Osmonds started when they were very young on the Andy Williams show. If you look it up you will see them singing barber shop style harmonies when they were all between 12 and 4yrs old. They are a super talented family. Their younger brother Jimmie joined them later and their sister Marie was also very successful in country music recording her first hit when she was 13 Paper Roses. Donny and Marie became the biggest successes and had their own variety show, then in later years their own talk show. 8:00
