This drum season by Mick Tucker is just a sneak peak of his talents. Their were all wildly talented and amazing vocalists. This band was years ahead of their time and highly underrated with a sad story. They are worth going down the rabbit hole for. Best band ever. Rest in peace Brian Mick and Steve.

You are correct. Sweet is worth going down the rabbit hole for if you love heavy hard rock metal, or even care about music in general.. The first tragedy was Brian getting kicked in the throat, which caused Sweet to miss opening for The Who in Wembley. Then Mick died from leukemia. It was great of Steve and Andy to try to keep Sweet going, even though whatever they did was eclipsed by thoughts of what might have been if Sweet's luck would have been better. The demise of Sweet is a loss for the entire world, one which most are not even aware has diminished them.

Very underrated group, professionally I think they were disregarded due to their teeny bop glam style with their singles, but album tracks like Sweet FA and Set Me Free certainly prove otherwise, very talented songwriters and musicians.

The Ballroom Blitz" was inspired by an incident on 27 January 1973 when the band were performing at the Grand Hall in Kilmarnock, Scotland, and were driven offstage by the audience throwing bottles at them. Andy Scott lead guitarist is the only original member remaining. RIP Brian Connolly Lead singer, Mick Tucker Drummer and Steve Priest Bass guitarist.

Yeah if u listen in the lyrics they sing the guy at the back said everyone attack and it turned into a Ballroom Blitz I new the guy they were singing about what actually happened was guys from my hometown attacked the local guys from Kilmarnock after their had been a few fights in the town between them earlier in the day.

I think the reason why Mick Tucker was using his hands and tossed over his drumset was because the band was lip-synching, not playing live, and they weren't too happy about that. There's another part where you can see Brian Connelly stop singing in the middle of a line while the camera's on him, but you hear the words anyway. Lots of TV shows were known to make bands pretend to play over their studio recordings when they came on, with varying degrees of cooperation by the acts. The British show Top of the Pops notoriously had a hard time getting the Pixies to come on for the same reason.

Jay, I feel so sorry for your generation (I'm 68) missing out on the sixties, seventies, and eighties music. Coming from the UK, the Sweet and others were played all the time, and I have to say, the 60-80's were the 'best years of my life'. Cheers and I thoroughly enjoy watching you discover quality music and bands (Sad to say, three of the Sweet have passed on). - Take care, and stay well.

Patrick Smith, I was thinking the same thing about the music from the 60's thru the 80's. I'm 63 yrs old and I know for a fact that the music back from the day was the best ever. All of our children were raised on the same music that we were raised on. One time on the way to the beach in 1996 we were listening to music from the 60's thru the 80's. We had I played a game with my children and their cousins. Who could guess which music groups song was playing. The kids guessed it way faster than I could. Lol

Sweet was more than just a glam band. That's what the producers and companies wanted. They were a rock band at heart. Check out the North American release of the Desolation Boulevard album. One of the greatest albums ever. Definitely some metal leanings there. My favourite track is "Into the Night". Or maybe "The Six Teens".

This is from a TV show. 1973. At that time many bands did not play live when they were on TV, the technology just wasn't there on a lot of these shows. If you watch again you can tell they are lip syncing. For example, the singer is singing sometimes when he is holding the mic far from his face and his lips aren't moving, and the drummer using his hands, well the drum still sounds like he has sticks. Nothing wrong with this, these guys were just having some fun. Lots of bands did not like these shows because they could not play live. The song is a Chinny-Chap song. They were a pair of song writers who had 40 some hits in the 70's. Likeable but nothing to be too serious about.

The Isley Brothers were one of the few acts on soul train that actually played live as they refused to go on otherwise . Most bands hated lip syncing . There was The old Grey whistle Test and Midnight Special were a couple of shows that bands performed live but stuff like Top of the pops they did not .

Most of these TV-shows, "Top of the Pops" and all of those, were playback and you can see them goof around a lot. A wonderful and great closeup live performance is "Live at Musikladen" 1974. There are some studio recorded backups on tape but this is a unique way to experience Sweet live...

I found this great, as I'm now 64, grew up in the 70s, and was always a Fan of The Sweet, even saw them live twice, So happy you like the band, check out their other stuff, Blockbuster, Fox on the Run, Little Willy, and then after the Sweet, try listening to another 70s band called MUD, with Dyna-mite and TIGER FEET... the 70s really was some great music, and lucky for me I got to know a lot of the bands and played all their music, as I was a Professional International DJ, for 30 years 70s 80s and 90s

Wow, it's funny because I've watched so many of y'all's reactions over the last year or two and somehow this popped at my feed and I had never seen it before. Man sweet is one of my favorite bands. And your reaction is priceless. And I can tell it's that early thing with the rainbow bricks behind it. Man what a long journey it's been but it's so awesome to see you react to this. Those guys knew how to really rock but I'll say check out Love Is Like Oxygen just a few years later and they were like a tip of the hat to the Disco but they still maintain their own British Glam you know kind of thing that they were doing and it turns out to be a fantastic Opus of a song.
