About a decade ago, I was at a gig and happened to strike up a conversation with someone who was the chief buyer for HMV. According to them, their Blackpool store (whether it's still there, I don't know) sold more Quo albums than the entirety of all others. I was shocked. Quo are like a national treasure. No rude words, just good classic rock with awesome riffs. The kind of stuff you'd play at a wedding and everyone would know the words. There's are more talent in the band than might seem one a first listen; these guys were tight.

I saw them 5 times,50 years ago,in 1972 around The Croydon, Purley area,in their manor, of South East London. They were "paying their dues" after the pop years and building a new sound and image. On one of those 5 gigs ,they played 5 Encores including a 7 Part Medley:) Cost £1....:or $1.34....:)

If you enjoyed this I think you’ll really like their live performance of ‘Rockin all over the world’ at Live Aid in 1985. I believe they were the first musical act to kick it all off that day and they really got the crowd going in what was going to be a very long day!! 🎸🙌🏾 ‘Caroline’ and ‘In The army Now’ are also great songs from them. Hope you get to check these out too!

Ahhh !! So so good !!!The Mighty Quo!!! I got to see them live in a smallish club in Toronto. My friend and I were right in front of the two guitar players, Rick Parfitt(the blonde guy) and Francis Rossi(the brunette guy) for the whole show. We heard a lot of guitar and some bass and drums. Keyboards were drowned out. Our hearing was really affected for three days afterwards. But man oh man was it worth it! Be forewarned! The Status Quo rabbit hole is a very deep and complex one. I'm a fan of Status Quo since childhood. Almost for 40 years now. Some call them repetitive, but if you listen to Quo, you know what you get. That's not a bad thing. They had some major hits over the decades. And also some atypical Quo-songs on their list, which are also fun to listen ("Pictures of Matchstickmen", the slower hit "In The Army Now"). They are also quite very good with some classic cover versions. Love them. Sadly Rick Parfitt and Alan Lancaster are no longer with us.

This is one of their many anthems, played at every single gig since it's inception in 1979. This got to the no.4 slot in the singles charts of that year and is as catchy now as it's always been. Their trademark sound is unmistakable, of course, and the song itself is deceptively simple. The follow-up single to this was a slower, more melodic number called, 'Living On An Island', that was a break from the usual sound. It only reached No.16 in the charts, but is still a favourite of many fans. 'Mystery Song', (the album version), is a fantastic song to react to.

You guys really need to check out the entire set that Status Quo did when they opened Live Aid in 1985. By that stage their star was beginning to fade, but they blew the roof off the place and had the crowd eating out of their hands. It's an amazing performance.
@robertbartender591 Жыл бұрын
When it was first mentioned that Quo should open Live Aid it was who, what and why. Simples Quo had the perfect song, had been playing stadiums for years so won't get fazed and knew how to interact with the crowd, plus a lot of the current crop of artists didn't want to open because of the pressure,.

Since today is Female Friday and last week was Cinco De Mayo, I know you might have missed my request for you to check out a band of sisters from Mexico named, The Warning, and I was going to wait to request a live video from them but it's time to land the big one. Earlier this year, they played a concert in Mexico City, where they are huge in, as well as Central and South America and with their 100+ North American show last year, they're spreading like wildfire! Amber, introduce the family to THE WARNING and use their song, "Disciple" from their concert in Mexico City earlier this year! You and Jay will love it! Love yenz! Knuckle Moonpup signing out! Oh, speaking of concerts, you should dedicate a day where you watch a concert, whether you watch it live or on streaming services and share what you think. There are a lot of bands that yenz are getting into that are no longer together or gone now or too much money to watch these days but it shouldn't mean you should miss out!

One of Status Quo's biggest hits w/ (the late) Rick Parfitt (vocals & rhythm guitar) on lead vocals (Francis Rossi on harmony vocals) from 1979. It's strange that Status Quo is huge in Europe, but never made it big in the US... We need them to be popular in the States before they are gone - Francis Rossi (vocals & lead guitar) is 73 yrs and he says he's uncertain about Status Quo recording again... Rick Parfitt passed away in 2016, and he was the band's rock star... Former bassist (original member) Alan Lancaster passed away in 2021... Original drummer John Coghlan is 76 (he left the band in 1981)... Andy Bown (keyboards/ vocals) is 77 yrs and is still playing w/ Status Quo (since 1976). 'Whatever you want' was written by keyboardist Andy Bown... he brought the track to Rick Parfitt who loved it and wrote the lyrics... it also became the title of Status Quo's 1979 album... The live version is actually better w/ current bassist John 'Rhino' Edwards. Francis Rossi has kept Status Quo touring w/ Andy Bown, John 'Rhino' Edwards, Richie Malone (guitar) and Leon Cave (drums)... Rossi has said that he notices on stage that Rick Parfitt is gone when the band performs 'Whatever you want'... and he's not there singing or playing guitar. More Status Quo - 'In the army now'... "Roll over lay down'... 'Burning bridges'... "Ain't complaining"... 'Paper plane'... "Rocking all over the world" (John Fogerty cover)... 🔥🔥🤘🤘

I've got an idea for a theme day, can start with "She Bop" by Cyndi Lauper, then "I Touch Myself" by the Divinyls, end it with "Turning Japanese" by the Vapors. Can call it Master Monday, or Self abuse Sunday.😄

They did that Divinyls song, and well were aghast, and sadly a little miffed. Go figure.

I've seen these guys in concert numerous times over the years and they're as good live as on record. This lineup is my favourite though. RIP Rick Parfitt and Alan Lancaster.
