We're on our second Tatra. I grew up around the breed and was happy when we moved to a big enough property to have one as a guardian for our goats. We LOVE our Polish Bear and hope to breed her next year.

It's not gentle at all, they can be extremely aggressive and dangerous.
@poprostukeit67444 жыл бұрын
@@simonpyza5270 well, they are very gentle towards their owners and people they like. However I agree, when it comes to strangers they can be real monsters.
@mancubwwa3 жыл бұрын
Protective, not aggresive. There is a difference. And it depends a lot on the upbringin. The ones working today with herds in highly touristy areas of Polish Tatras tend to either ignore tourists or guilt trip them into parting with their sandwiches, but are not showing agression unless someone tries to meddle with the ship.

Memories came back. I had such a dog as a child. My grandparents brought it to me by train from Zakopane in a shoe box. His name was Baca (a name popular in Poland for this breed). Thanks :)

I would not say that they do not bite. It depends on your reaction to their offer. "Keep away, turn around and move as fare and fast you can!" I know, every morning my first moment of awakening is to look into that big eyes. And they are telling me the biggest love and preparedness to protect my family. For us Frieda is more than a dog. She is total family member. This breed is 10 of 10. She would save our lives without any thought about consequences. And I would safe her life as much I can.

We have our "stosh" and he's the best dog ,with the livestock and the family! But he sleeps right next to me every night, he only likes watching the animals during his office hours. 😅 He's a very Big boy at 187 lbs and when he stands up he's taller then my husband who's 6"5. He's so good in the house he's never in 4 years had an accident or chewed anything. But it is like having a small pony live with you, The need alot of room.

@Rocadog4 жыл бұрын
They were developed in colder climate, so that is the best for them. They are not ideal for hot weather regions.

At around 30 C, the dog goes around to find an area without sun and does not seem comfortable. They seem okay until 20-25 C

A lot of people agree that a novice owner should rescue a shelter dog but the one suitable for them. What is your opinion?
@Rocadog4 жыл бұрын
Sure, if you will find an obedient and socialized adult dog in shelter, than it is easier than raising a puppy by yourself. But you should trust the shelter to tell you the truth about the dog, because there will be dogs in shelter that are totally unsocialized and without a training and it would be impossible for a novice to change their behavious.
@southernfamilygardens7286 Жыл бұрын
These dogs are working farm dogs they need livestock to protect to be happy, you very rarely can find one of these dogs in a shelter and if you own a farm , you must have livestock gaudian specific dog's to do the job,or you will loose all of your livestock to predators. Yes its grateful to adopt from shelters, but a dog this big needs to grow up with its pack to bond, and plaemybof room.
