Leeds United have a massive worldwide fanbase due to Revie and his 'Super Leeds' team. The best club side ever. MOT

Fantastic video guys. Brings back great memories. I feel fortunate I caught the tail end of the Revie era as a young boy. What a team they were. I used to see Jack Charlton most weeks in his sports shop on Garforth main street, where I collected my stocking tabs from from my pocket money. He was a great guy. Still have them today.

During the Covid lockdown I started my own Leeds United fantasy team history starting from when Revie left, but using Revie's philosophy of building from within. Giles replaced Clough correcting the first mistake. From there they were never relegated, have won the league 9 times, the Euro Cup/Champions League 4 times and the FA Cup 6 times plus other cups. I can now play this revisionist team in 'real' time with each match. Bielsa is still the manager, beating Chelsea 2-0 in the League Cup final this year and has just won the league again with three games remaining, despite being only 8th in the PL salaries table. I've got the FA Cup final against Scum to look forward to and a tricky Champions League semi against PSG. This could be Leeds best ever season with a possibility of a first treble. Having Haaland helps greatly.

A great read. Thanks. In 1974-75 Leeds were so far ahead of the rest. Liverpool were a close 2nd but even Bill Shankly constantly said at the beginning of each season, “Finish ahead of Leeds, you win the league.” So great was those Leeds players. The Brian Clough disaster in 1974 mainly down to him failing to bring Peter Taylor to Leeds, basically handed Shankly and Paisley the baton to rule English and European football unopposed for close to 10 years. Without a strong and stable Leeds team, Paisley’s Liverpool played at half pace until Clough and Taylor got their act together with Forrest and finally Liverpool got some punishing competition. Leeds have never as a club recovered fully from 1974. We’ve occasionally had periods of excellence but look at Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United today. All 3 were mainly in the shadows of Revie’s squad until Clough arrived. Jack Charlton not Bremner or Giles should of got the Leeds job in 1974. Similar to the England job later on. Why Jack wasn’t interviewed is beyond understanding. Jack a one club man. He won everything. He was nowhere in football until Don turned up at Leeds. He learned everything in management from Don Revie. One day someone will explain why he was not considered for both posts. Shame…

@@EstelleCecilThanks Estelle. In my revised history Big Jack replaced Giles after 3 seasons, won the league title twice and our first European Cup in 1981 against Real Madrid by a solitary goal scored by Frankie Gray. Oh, if only...

The book sounds great , i have loads of books about the Revie era , this will be a welcome addition. Leeds utd the Goat ?I believe so, as Giles has often said they predated the Dutch in playing total football.I truly loved the Revie team, all the deep thinking about the game as a player ,Don brought to the wonderful creation of his Leeds Utd team.

Really enjoyed the podcast Brings back such great memories…Although I still believe we missed a trick with Clough though. Should ‘old big head ‘ had not been so arrogant & brought Peter Taylor with him, we well might have the Nottingham statue side by side with Revie & would possibly still be England’s elite team 😣

Said this so many times in forums. Great sides always have one or two experienced players in the mix. Even Sir Alex Ferguson’s side full of kids had Eric Cantona who had previously won the league with Leeds. James Milner in this Leeds team would of been enough to have got us over the line in the last 8 games. We as a club never learn from past errors.

Liverpool was really annoying in those days. Leeds would be competing in four competitions at the end of the season, playing titanic cup replays against Ipswitch Town. Liverpool only had the league, and won when Leeds ran out of steam. The squads were tiny in those days.

staying in the championship will give Leeds more time to build a team of talented kids within new infrastructure, go up now and its panic buys, sackings to stay up for umpteen seasons until the financial field in the prem is levelled with caps and the gap closed
