The Barnum and Bailey Circus usually has animals but they don't anymore bcuz animal rights activists were protesting claiming the animals were being abused ( beaten etc). They closed down the circus for about 6 years and reopened last year. Not sure if that's the one you saw or it could've been Shriners Circus you saw. PETA considers it to be abuse also when the animals have to be locked up in the cages. It's kinda sad bcuz the animals are a huge part of a circus and without them a bit of the fun is missing. In addition to all that, a few years ago some of the acrobats fell while performing ( I think one or maybe two died ). That's another reason why they took a break too. Y'all we gotta remember that the fun experience that we enjoy at a circus is a result of folks risking their lives just to entertain us. 🤡🐯🦁🐵🦒🐒🎪🎩 The eclipse was a disappointment ( even though I saw a total and also partial solar and partial lunar eclipses before) for us in my city. Our city was one of the few cities that was gonna see the total eclipse ( while others would only see a partial eclipse). This city began planning for it a year ago!! The folks came from all over the US and even far away places like Spain to experience it in our city. Hotels etc booked to capacity. Lots of extra traffic ( I live in a small city). We're known for bad weather ( either lots of snow in the winter or just cloudy weather other times) and the weather definitely didn't disappoint that day!!!! It was so cloudy and after the eclipse passed the rest of the afternoon was so bright and sunny. So, everyone didn't really see the eclipse; all they experienced was the sudden darkness and then daylight again. That wasn't a big deal for me ( I mentioned earlier that I'd seen it before). Everyone that I spoke with regarding the eclipse said they enjoyed the experience nevertheless even though the cloudy weather prevented them from seeing it. The amazement of the sudden darkness was fascinating to them!! 😊🪐🌖🌗🌘🌑🌞☁️

Ummmm I could be wrong but I think the reason they may not have the lions and such is because of animal rights and the accusations of widespread animal abuse in the circus industry. This is of course a very general statement not to say that this paritcular circus and any specific ones are guilty of mistreating their animals.
