I think the last minute or two speaks volumes about the late Zal Yanovsky. Forward he steps for his solo, that lovely battered old Guild and all, and look at the delight on the face of EC all the way through, especially when Zal goes round again. RIP Zal Yanovsky - truly one of the "proper" guitarists of his day.

Paul Shaffer is considerably more than a band leader. He plays many instruments and I've seen him play Summer in the City with Just John Sebastian on guitar and Paul on keyboard and he pulled it off right down to the sound of the jackhammer in the original version. This was, after all the Spoonful's induction to the Hall of Fame so they had to have their moment.

Yes, I'd never sell him short. He has the respect of the pop music elite, even if he can't please internet trolls. Which would any sane person rather have the respect of?

Damn, they didn't let Johnny Graham from EWF (or even Al McKay) get a guitar solo in? NO RESPECT!!! Those of us who know EWF know that Johnny and Al can hang with any of the soloists up there.. The Blues is Johnny's "Bread and Butter."

Is that Freddie White (Maurice & Verdine's younger brother who played drums with Earth Wind & Fire) sitting beside the drummer @ 2:21? If it is he looks good.

You should be losing so badly! (these RRHOF performances need direction to keep them from becoming complete chaos, with so many performers on stage at once. That is Shaffer's recognized function. It needs to be done, and he does it as well as anyone could). He's a band leader, by definition, and that's what he does. No more, no less.

so damn silly, white folks ruining some good r and b songs and Paul Schaeffer still thinking he's Phil Spector and dishing out the solos. Truly the Hall of Shame. And please no more Melissa Ethridge on stage unless it's her own damn show. so overrated.

as ec goes into another predictably out of touch with the spirit of the song solo..it looks like john turns to Zal and they just know he dropped one on all of em
