That thing looks like a beast. Those tires are enormous. Just make sure to account for the bending force in the front upper links caused by the bump stops. Normally those links only see tension and compression. I agree this gets done all the time with trailing arms, but those are usually weldments, not just a piece of DOM. The bump stop looks like it is positioned about halfway down the length of the tube, which is worst case positioning for bending the tube I would think. It might be fine how it is, I don't know for certain. A piece of tube sleeved over the link might be an easy way to strengthen it.

Before it's all said and done they'll be a brace and bump pad. most likely I'll go ahead and sleep these links with aluminum as well

I’ve been looking for an off-road build channel for several months and just now somehow came across your channel. Not sure how the KZbin algorithm stuff works but you guys should figure it out so you are more exposed and easier to find. I’m enjoying the rock bouncer build and will definitely be checking out your other stuff after. Keep up the good videos.
@carbonshocks
@carbonshocks 3 жыл бұрын
KZbin doesn't care about the off-road community we did a lot from giveaways to paying for ads to everything and the off-road stuff never grew and per capita the off-road crowd on KZbin is very small. we gave up on KZbin back in August it's just too much work for absolutely no return.

Looks so low and sinister for such a massive rig. The frontend setup looks super clean. That 1 backwards tire though has been driving me nuts every since you guys mounted them up lol.

@@carbonshocks I have an odd tire fetish lol. Technically I would say the driver front is in the correct orientation and the other 3 are what most would consider reversed.

It does however it has its moments but it definitely makes duplicating parts much easier. It's really due for some servicing it needs new slats and one of these days we need to seal it up so we can put water in it and it will cut even better.

The chassis looks bad ass but I can’t believe you would ever put Rockwell’s under it. That sexy rig deserves a Custom Gm14 bolt all day long !!!
@carbonshocks
@carbonshocks 3 жыл бұрын
You obviously are not familiar with Rockwell's and rock bouncing. It wasn't our choice. This is what was provided by the owner. Furthermore a 49 and a half inch tires too big for a 14 bolt.

@@carbonshocks I'm just sitting here messing around with a design idea I had in my head, and I thought I'd share the free CAD app use that I downloaded. It's called " Inard CAD " pretty simple program, just a basic 2D program, simple-to-use but nice to have on a phone or a tablet, something when you want to put down some measurements when an idea pop in you head, I think you have to buy the actual non free version to import files and stuff, but works very well for me when I'm just doodling around, getting ideas. Anyway I thought I'd share it hope you don't mind... Maybe you like to try it.

Fantastic as usual, loved the intro The radiator looks small but given rockbouncer's runs times, there is a reason behind that size. Any plans for using cage as coolant passages? I'm not an engineer and i trust your experience but the bump stops there look weird as a concept on a bouncer. The rockwell style axles make OSO's and Medusa's look so tiny. Keep up the great work.
@carbonshocks
@carbonshocks 4 жыл бұрын
Radiator will be fine it's not open dessert racing. I am. Not a fan of coolant in the cage one crack from a hit and your done. Yes the bumps are no tradition but they work. No different than a trailing or leading arm design where the shock is arm mounted. We have done it before with zero issue and full tunability.
