The Gunks are an extensive formation that includes the Peterskill. Maybe you're referring to The Trapps, which is the most popular climbing area. It is part of the Gunks, but so is the Peterskill. The Ridge runs from the New Jersey border to the Catskill Mountains. It's part of a geological formation that begins in Virginia.

@IOwnedGod he was tieing a stopper knot in the rope... the rope can run out for the belayer and result in the climber falling or a repeller can run out of rope and fall the rest of the way... its a safety precaution

I guess, it didn't really look like that end of the rope was going anywhere, the way he attached to the anchor. Anyway, I've never seen anyone yank on a stopper knot that hard!
