I never expected them to let me in with my newly purchased manual focus VHS video recorder, and didn't want it confiscated either, so didn't record much of the concert. A few months later I got caught trying to sneak it into a Stevie Ray Vaughan concert, and they almost didn't return it to me. My camera couldn't handle the lighting on the stage, so it didn't turn out very well.

The one song Talk Talk sounds like a rip off, is this It's A Shame is the same as Evil Hearted You by the Yardbirds. Other than that, they just got more original and sublime. It's taken 40 years give or take, but they were, are, a special band. And they dont sound from any specific time as they progressed, which is what Mark Hollis said he wanted, well they achieved that by 91.

It’s a shame Mark was so painfully stage shy.. He never ever engaged with the crowd at all. Head down while singing, sitting on drum stage with head down when not singing. I went with my brother to see this show at Manchester Apollo on this same 1986 tour. Even though we both loved their albums, my brother got bored and left half way through saying, “if I just wanted to hear their album I would have stayed home & played that” his point being, there was no engagement with the crowd, no “live show” experience…. As though Hollis would rather not be there ! I loved the show and stayed, meeting him afterwards in a nearby pub… but I sort of understood what he meant. They were musically brilliant, but “sterile” Lacking in stage presence I guess

I actually enjoy a lot seeing also what is going on around! People dancing, people enjoying, nobody taking pictures with phones....pure fun in 1986 fashion! ....I mean, look at that guy at 4:09...it's priceless! 😄 The band on stage was too far away for detailed shots anyway, so I am happy with what this video shows.

@@Milkbar71 Thank you for answering me gently. I agree with you about the Non-phone Pictures, their absence is blissful !!! and if you enjoyed this general joyful party, that's good...personally I prefer the stage but I guess Mark and the band would have liked you and others to be happy this way!

I was initially a bit disappointed as well to not be able to see the band but then found a lot of joy seeing the shared love of Talk Talk and somewhat experiencing the same elation as people in the crowd decades ago. Fantastic rare video! Felt like I was in the crowd too 🖤
