Well I don't know who you are And I don't care where you've been Please just take this deadbeat soul Let him keep the hearts he stole And all those little lies They told ya in disguise They got you through those lonely hours Made you think the world was ours I'm the man who shot the moon and cried Let those thieves and bastards all collide Take these words and burn them if you don't mind Oh sweetheart these nights were made for me Still so far from where I long to be You said it from the start Rock 'n' roll will break your heart There's a holy roller sign And a chance she won't be mine There's no teenage dreams to fill Break my heart I know you will And we'll tumble down the street Sleep alone in my back seat Oh all that jealous talk we made Strung out in the soul parade

First time through WNM I skipped over this song and didn’t think much of it, but lately it’s become on of my favorite Fratellis tracks

When I first bought this album I was bit meh about it, but my god as times gone on it’s just genius.....and this song is superb, sweet and melancholy yet still some scathing sarcastic wit

Very serious, very good. But it's not fratellis, go back to the foot stomping anthems, they were fucking great. Costello music, Chelsea dagger, creepin up the back stairs, shit that song was even great when it was just acoustic. And even the slow ones on that, they made you think of characters drunkenly wandering through life, whistle for the choir, vince was a loveable stoner. They give you characters. All this new stuffs too serious, it's all 'I' and 'you.' It's too serious, too slow, that's why seven nights and seven days has had the most publicity and popularity, it's a fucking anthem. And even though the songs are very good, I think they look slightly awkward, and that's why the fratellis have always looked out of place and not sounded very good live at places bigger than small bar club type venues. They are great at see at the bigger halls as well obviously. But anything bigger than that they sound awkward, and if you've got time check out their super awkward performances on Australian vinyl. By the way, barrowlands was by far the best place I've seen them.

***** I disagree with you. I don't think that they will ever return to the sound of the first record. They were excited at very beginning. Good bands moving forward, even when the record was a hit. They just want to please theirselfs. And this is what it sounds like. I love every song of them. There's always a melody with catchy lyrics behind.

The energy of the original albums can be hard to recreate while trying to create something new. Sometimes that slower song is the ones that is the final hook that made you go out and buy that second installment. Think your right in the fact that there should be a balance of uptempo songs to ignite the good feelings.
