Rhapsody of Fire made a fantasy epic that streched to more than half a dozen albums, from the 90's to the 2010's, one concept album after the other. Superb compositions snd you'd love Fabio Lione. Anastasia, if you love Maggie so much, check out Noora Louhimo of Battle Beast. As for durability, well there are are some really notable examples in metal and Eric Adams could do both of the parts of this song today at 71, lol.

You might have some fun checking out the video "Star One - Into The Black Hole" from 2003. This is pretty much an Ayreon side project. The video isn't of the best quality image wise, but you'll get why it's worth seeing if you choose to do so I suspect.

"Electric Castle Live and Other Tales" and "The Theater Equation" are complete stage productions of "Electric Castle" and "The Human Equation" respectively which are both concept albums with a coherent story. Probably the closest we're gonna get to an actual play from Ayreon in the foreseeable future. The theater equation also features Marcela Bovio and Irene Jansen (two of the background singer) in prominent roles. I can highly recommend giving both of them a look/listen.

Hello Anastasia. Greetings from England! The 'movie' you were talking about became Arjen's latest album called 'Transitus' This song was based on the UK television programme 'Blake's Seven' from the early 80's. In fact, the two albums penned for 'Star One' were all inspired by Science-Fiction film or television shows. Star One involved Damian Wilson, Russell Allan and Floor Jansen, but all songs were penned by Arjen.

Yes and Transitus became an animated story instead of a movie... but yeah he basically writes the parts for the vocalists he casts. I mean who could say no to Arjen if he called and said he wanted you in one of his projects.

She sang leads in Arjen's project "Stream of Passion" and she just started a new band this year called "Dark Horse | White Horse". Marcela is my favourite female singer in the whole Ayreon Universe. Her leadsinging is fantastic, but her passion doing the background especially on this DVD is so unbelievable . I always get goosebumps no matter how often I watch and listen to this

Love your honest and intelligent reactions. Regarding Maggy; the best performance of the show(which I saw live in Tilburg), which was 'Star of Sirrah', also features her. There also is a 'making of' of the three day venue in Tilburg(Holland) . You will LOVE this. Because of copyright, I can not post it. Try to find it. It is worth the effort. Enjoy and keep it up! Btw; Star of Sirrah has the most epic guitar solo. You wil Floorgasm on that one! ;)

I am SOOoooo glad you finally get to see Maggi in a lead role. This song is all about call-and-response to me.. And Damien has the great luck to use his super-clean voice as a foil to Maggiys ear-shattering grit. The Writer/Arranger/Producer's-choice to put them together is truly inspired... and they look like they have so much fun playing their parts... Maggy especially!! (her earlier role in Everybody Dies was a small one, in comparison... here she has the entire stage/length of song), I also love the way the musical intensity/density-of-arrangement would drop a bit when Damien would sing (his part is the 'logical/criticizer analytical' ) and then the tonal aggression ratchet's up during Maggy's part, and she has absolutely no problem at all cutting through itand building that musical tension. SO GREAT !! In the States, there is a term "ear worm" : a song that gets into your brain and you just can't get it out of your head. It plays over and over in you rmemory... This song was a month-long ear-worm, for me. I hope your next month holds as much joy !! Happy re-plays.

Great reaction. I had watched a few songs from this show on KZbin, but I decided to order the DVD and held off on watching other songs from the show. Got the DVD a few weeks ago and my wife and I absolutely love it. I highly recommend the DVD. This was one of the songs I hadn't heard until watching the DVD and I wish I hadn't held off. This song is just fun. By the way, this is originally a Star One song, which is another of Arjen's projects. The link below is to a live performance from 2003 (I think). Arjen plays guitar. Damien is singing the same part. The part Maggie sings is being sung by Russell Allen of Symphony X/Adrenaline Mob/Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The elder bass player Peter Vink is an interesting person. He gained fame in the sixties! in Dutch music, in the band Q65, but has since done many other things, including teaching rock music.

Damian started singing in gis first band Landmarq in 1991. He was also approached by Iron Maiden as possible replacement for Bruce Dickinsons depart in the late 90's. Recently he has been confirmed as new vocalist of the british Band Arena. Oh and he's also inventory with Ayreon since he had the role of the Knight on the third album "Into the electric castle' in 1998. He can also be seen on Arjen Lucassens first Live Shows as "Star One" (Live on Earth 2002) where you can also already find a very young Floor Jansen and her sister Irene ;) Floor appeared first with Ayreon on the 4th album 'Universal Migrator Part 1" in 2000. For Damian I suggest "And the Druids turned to stone" from the same show (Universe) - for Damian 20 years ago check him out in Star One's Live show (there is even this song which actually is a Star One song from their first album "Space Metal).

This song is actually from Star One project, which began from Arjen and Bruce Dickinson collaboration. They wrote few songs, but after that Arjen started work alone. Several months ago Arjen announced new Star One album. Oh, small thing about how Arjen name pronounced: Арьен :)

If you look at The Electric Castle and other Tales live you can see one of his complete works brought to life on the stage you lose Marcel Coenen on guitar but otherwise it is just an awesome live show with some of the orginal cast to boot!!
