To connect using WPS, you have to press the WPS button on the wifi extender first and then on the router. The instructions are backwards.

I had to move into an extended stay hotel with a wifi captive portal to log in on many times a day. If you connect at all your download speed is 1mbps or less and you can only sign on 1 device at a time. I tried 2 travel routers but despite the description they had to be wired or push the wps button on the router to set up. I was able to plug this into the power outlet but couldn't connect all weekend and the 24/7 customer service is only through chat. I got them on the phone Monday and was able to set it up very easily. The problem is with the directions, as is the case with many foreign tech devices. Here's the vital step they left out that caused a lot of stress- the password you set MUST be the EXACT SAME as the hotel's wifi password or it doesn't work. It allows me to get multiple devices online with the hotel's wifi and I only have that 1 device logged in. The function has been inconsistent though. Restarting your phone/devices and a factory reset on the extender usually helps when you can't log on. New problem- though there's a password setup, my wifi always shows security type as None. I stream KZbin through Roku Express a lot and a few times random people have suddenly gotten signed into my KZbin account- which connects to Google, where my bank card numbers are. I have to log them out and factory reset and reinstall. The description says it's WPA/WPA2 protected, so how does this happen and how do I prevent it? The customer support guy wasn't listening at all and said "don't worry" when I asked him. The company needs to fix this immediately and stop telling me to move the extender closer to the router after I've explained 100x that I'm in a hotel room and can't plug it in anywhere else. 20 minutes of that was PAINFUL.

Thats the problem with these devices they need to be a receiving a good signal from source router, if it can't then it just won't work well.

@@GeekStreet The signal is really good a lot of the time but the red light stays on meaning to move closer to the router if you can but it still works. The woman I spoke to when I set it up explained it. When I called recently because of other people getting into my KZbin account on the tv screen, the man I spoke with wouldn't answer why it shows having no security in settings, but instead kept telling me to go closer to the router because of the red light. I was really irritated had to get forceful to get him to let it go. My head was about to pop off from my blood pressure after the 22 minute phone call. Before the security problem I recommended the extender and company to many people because they did always call to make sure the problem was fixed a few days after I'd call for help.

For a awhile it did not work in my kitchen, but I unplugged it, moved it, then put it back to its original position, I'm getting 20-30 mbs per second on my ps4 (right next to it), and my phone (directly upstairs). However, that is wireless, so I am going to use a LAN cable for my ps4.

I don't think you held the reset button long enough to get a proper factory reset. You should see a red light when it's time to let go.

No it will never be as stable as plugged directly into the router, because the extender is connected via wifi so if the wifi goes down the port goes down too.

what is the benefit of using the ethernet port to hardwire the extender to a device? won't the signal strength from the extender's ethernet port to a hard-wired device still be dependent on the strength of the wifi transmission from the router to the extender? in other words, it's not the equivalent of using an ethernet cable from the router to the device, right?
