Keep driving, you'll see a TON of dopey, idiotic truckers. I have been driving for 50 years, and most truckers are good at what they do; but there are a lot who aren't and they are driving rigs WAY too heavy for their skills and temperament.

The blowing snow and visibility reminded me of trips from Fort Collins to Del Norte for Christmas with my mother. My husband wouldn't drive in the snow (or the mountains or Denver) so I got to do it. Coming off Kenosha on 285 into South Park was usually an adventure and more so if it was snowing. Like Wyoming, the wind usually blows in South Park. Many times the road was like that. We always made it safely and my 2 kids are pretty good drivers. I taught them to drive. LOL. Thanks for taking us along. Stay safe.

I run Wyoming a lot in the winter. When it’s really cold the road actually gets kind of sticky. You can still lose traction but you’re better off in very cold weather. Problem with Wyoming is black ice.
@northwestprof602 жыл бұрын
The problem with Wyoming is its altitude, much of 80 is over 7000' and some over 8000; that means roads can get nasty about 12 months of the year

I drove OTR and dedicated routes for years....and often wondered and discussed with other drivers why the wasn't a "heated" blade available...then last year in Wal-Mart I found them....put them on my pickup last winter and took them off in the spring....using them again this winter (in Minnesota)...They work like a champ...no more ice/snow build up on the wipers!!!!

I agree with you 100%. This type of weather is perfect for driving and is totally invigorating. I have done cross country driving in this type of weather since 1972 and all in a 4 wheeler (everything from a 72' Eldorado, to a 73" Mach I, to a 78' "Bandit" Trans Am, to a Datsun Maxima, to an 82 Corvette, to an 89' Cadillac Fleetwood, to a 99' Durango, to a 2002 Suburban, to a 2004 E Class, to a 2006 Corvette, to a C7 Corvette, and to recently a Camry.) Many years I made 3 or more cross country trips in weather. Why? My kids live in Pittsburgh and I live in Los Angeles. When life stresses me out (mostly from work) I set up a vacation during December through February and I hit the Interstates for relaxation. I just love it. And I love weather, which we rarely get in LA. Appreciate your commentary, too - it sure beats listening to someone else's music. Rarely do I find a driving video with my music. And being you and I think alike, I liked listening to you saying what you were thinking with road noise in the background. Do you use a GoPro? The quality was excellent. I'm hooked and SUBSCRIBED with just this one video!

Brings back a lot of memories, I still miss driving. I can't count how many times I drove in weather like that up here in Canada. As for the comment of coming up on someone going 20 mph, I got a big surprise back in '85. I was heading north loaded pulling a B train on the I-5 near Bellingham, WA on my way back to Canada in a heavy snowstorm at night. Some idiot in a motorhome was stopped in the middle of the lanes on a bridge. To this day I don't know how I squeezed past him without side swiping him or the bridge. BTW I was down through Rockport this past summer on a bike trip. We turned off and took 191 south towards Vernal on our way to Moab.

I used to drive from SLC to all over Wyoming in the early 1970's, with mostly mining equipment (flat trailers, no boxes, heavy equipment). This is quite nostalgic, I-70 was just pieces, short pieces but seeing that snow breezing across the road is a warning that soon you will see horizontal snow, and the box trucks were up for some fishtail driving lessons. Gotta love when the snow is drifting down the road almost as fast as you are.

Lovin your videos Mike. I grew up in central Illinois back in the 1970's and early 80's, when we had winters like this. I used to drive all over central and lower illinois, in the winter too. Absolute pleasure riding shotgun with you today !!! That interstate section from Rock Springs to Little America is my old stomping grounds because I lived in LaBarge Wyoming !!! I know that stretch well and depending on how the winds were blowing there would be times when I'd take the 2 lane heading due west (hywy 30 I believe) and then hit 189 going north out of Kemmerer...I did outsmart myself a time or two because Round Mountain just north of Kemmerer on 189 would be closed down because the plows couldn't keep it open...I was actually stranded on that stretch once when my little stick shift Ford Tempo's radiator packed with snow and overheated on me !!! Yep, Wyoming will teach you lessons you never forget on winter driving and such. Makes living in Streeter North Dakota child's play. Keep those wheels turning and I'll keep riding shotgun with you !!! Can't scare me Mountain Man Mike !!! PS lived in Wyoming close to 35 years prior to moving in 2013.

Very dangerous driving conditions, not that you don't know this already, when I have driven in that stuff where you can't see I tend to get headaches because I'm straining my eyes to see, is what the doq told me, another problem I had was when the wind picked up and I was running light my fear wasn't from blowing over it was from the wind sliding the whole truck over one lane, my first time experiencing this was terrifying, I had to pull over and change my under pants, be safe.
