Rockcod and Lingcod fishing in Santa Cruz: What is a good bait for Lingcod?

Welcome to the Fishing 247 channel.
Hello everyone. I hope you all are doing well and taking care of yourself. I am so glad to be on the water with my brothers.
Today I am fishing with my friends, Arnold, Hung, and my buddy Carlos on my 20' Valco Bay Runner Baja. We launch out of Santa Cruz Harbor boat launch. We are fishing for Rockcods using Japanese shrimp fly with swimbaits and lingcods using live baits. Please watch the video and let me know if you have any questions or comments.

We can fish in the Bay or ocean. I need to go with you to Hogan lake again for stripers for redemption trip. 🤣

I used to fish in Santa Cruz for over 20 years. I am close to Santa Cruz than HMB or Monterey. I still fish in Santa Cruz for mackerels and rockfish sometimes.

I paid good money for a ham and cheese omelet breakfast on the Monterey pier. I chummed it out on the boat. I thought dam that wasn't as good the second time. I had taken 2 dramamine before getting on the boat. They got chummed too.

Ling god are a equal opportunity predator. The best bait I ever used was large sanddabs. I caught 5 lings in 4 hours on a party boat out of Fort Brag, Ca. . It was a good trip. We could keep 5 lings then. I got 3 brown and 2 blue ones.

I will use sandabs if I can't catch croakers, but sandabs is good bait for Lingcods. Thanks for watching.

Right in front of natural bridge in 90 to 110 and straight out from the light house in 90 to 100 ft.

Squid is the best all around bait..

You can't catch squids sometimes so live croakers, jacksmelts, mackerels or sandabs are the baits of choices to catch lings. Swim baits works too but it is expensive. Thanks for watching.
