You should watch RATTY the making of infest the rats nest, it’s on their KZbin channel it’s a cool insight to how Cavs Joey and Stu jammed out the album

This is straight up Mötorhead. I love that they gave us this gem even though I think it’s definitely a weird one on the album

I had the same perception about Ambrose. Maybe it's because there's not much for him to do on this album being a keyboard/harmonica/sax player. It's mostly low key backing vocals and some percussion.

glad other people notice, i brought it up to some of my gizz loving friends and they thought i was crazy lol

After you finish the album, in your spare time you should check out RATTY - The Making of King Gizzard's "Infest the Rats' Nest" here on KZbin. I've notice Ambrose in the KEXP sessions too. My best bet is he get's energized being in front of a crowd, cause he is definitely high energy at live shows. 9:38 sums up King Gizz so well. :)

"ITRN" is as fresh, youthful energy and joy of playing thrash as "Kill 'em All" or "Show No Mercy". In this case we are dealing with much more experienced musicians and this can also be heard on this album. On Thursday I would like to hear "Self Immolate" on your channel. This is a good opportunity to celebrate the moment when you started your adventure with KGLW, while bringing a lot of joy and nice moments to all the fans visiting here. For me, what's even more nice is that it's one of my favorite tracks by the band.

Riffster! Love u dude, Cannot recommended the Chicago version for Self-Immolate enough, I choose this one because it’s the most recent and it really exemplifies how they can still improv and jam even on a metal song

You should go with Self-Immolate live at The Caverns! Killer show! (With the guys dressed up) also, a drum solo at the beginning of the song. *edit I searched for the video and the only one I found has not the drum solo at the begging, still a great performance!

I think amby thrives with a crowd. I’m sure just having cameras instead can be uncomfortable. He’s really all about the crowd work
@khalewren27348 ай бұрын
Oh for sure. To be fair though, he's pretty wild in the 2022 KEXP performance

This is a lot more of a straight up thrash song, which I like. King Gizz was really my introduction into metal, so I like the proggy stuff too. Can't say which one I like more. The Venusian 2 spaceship has been built, headed for Venus much like Venusian 1. Unlike Venusian 1, Venusian 2 actually makes it to Venus safely. Self Immolate is an incredible track, but you've already heard it, so I don't have much to say about it. I'll be listening to The Silver Cord tomorrow, both standard and extended versions, so I'll be done with King Gizzard's studio discography (for now) after almost a year of listening to them. I'll also start listening to Animal Collective for my friend's birthday next Tuesday since she's a huge fan of them.

For some background, it’s not really Venusian “Part 2”. Venusians 1 and 2 are spaceships/crewed missions, each meant to reach Venus

Honestly I think the live version with Supercell / Self Immolate bleed in at Salt Shed Chicago is the best version there is. Plus I don't think youve reacted to newer material that blends some of their older songs, which is the best part of Gizz live.

Yeah I think this is the best idea - I’m sure hed love to see the Petro stuff live

There is a youtube channel called Bennie. They have some folk/acoustic covers of some KGLW songs including Witchcraft.

I think Ambrose checks out during the ITRN songs because he wasn't as involved in this album compared to many of the others. I don't know if thrash metal isn't his thing or if he just didn't have much to do on these songs (shout out to the tambourine on a previous track!) but it feels like ITRN just wasn't his jam. Thankfully he seems to be much more engaged in the writing and performing on Petro and he kills it every time they play Gila Monster live. Maybe this kind of music took some time to grow on him.

I get the impression it's not his jam, especially going by the wee blurb on the FFF page on the website "For years we would always talk about making a record for each member in the bands’ taste. I was always begging for us to do a blues boogie type thing. It ended up taking a pretty different path and FFF is the outcome of that. I reckon we should try and dabble again with the whole boogie thing, hopefully next time in a more psychedelic prog way."

Not to mention Ambrose and cookie were probably recording Manic Candid Episode.....maybe

Cavs wrote all the drum parts then Eric learned them with him.

If you're into the proggy side of thrash, you checked out Voivod? (Generally speaking, not just on the channel). If not I'll add a track to yer list!

For your next video you should react to Vicious Cycle by Slackjaw. The band is a trio
