8:09 "this hike should only be taken at low tide" Oh yeah, I learned my lesson on that one, I hiked from the Torrey Pines parking lot up into the bluffs then came back down to walk the beach back and about halfway back on the beach I realized the occasional set that came in seemed to bring the water a bit too close to the cliffs. Just a few minutes later a set brought the water all the way up to the cliffs and I had to jog back to my car soaked from the waist down haha.

OMG! But the silver lining is your hiking shoes have never been cleaner. There is a hike I want to take near this called The Ho Chi Mihn trail. It looks pretty intense.
@thelonelyphish2 жыл бұрын
@@RockessentialTim I think I may have hiked Ho Chi Minh Trail once but that was a long time ago so I don't really remember it that well, pretty much any hike up there in the bluffs that take you down to the beach is a fun one, hiking down from the gliderport to Blacks Beach is really fun too. I mostly stick to the east county mountains nowadays, there are some real rugged hikes out here that are good training for mountaineering, class 3 scrambling is everywhere.
@RockessentialTim2 жыл бұрын
Any recommendations? I have the eastern end on my radar for fall. Thanks.
@thelonelyphish2 жыл бұрын
@@RockessentialTim we've got hikes in all sorts of varieties, cuyamaca peak is about 6 miles round trip and on an access road like the main trail of Woodson, stonewall peak is across the highway and is a really cool 4 mile trail, you've got El cajon mountain as well with what is supposedly the hardest hike in San Diego at about 13 miles and 4000 ft elevation gain, but my personal favorite goes to the south ridge of El cajon mountain, it rises straight out of El Monte Valley and climbs very steep up 3200 ft over 3 miles, it involves a decent bit of 3rd class scrambling, around 1000 ft of it with some pretty crazy exposure on the last rock slab, I don't know if you're interested in that sorta stuff but that's what I like a lot. We also have a few waterfalls, three sisters is a local favorite, I think the hike is around 7 miles round trip, cedar Creek falls is really cool and a popular cliff diving spot, it got so notorious for cliff diving that now you need a permit. We also have kitchen Creek falls and green valley falls but I haven't really been to them so I can't really give my input on em.
@RockessentialTim2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I know some of these hikes, El Cajon sounds cool but its a bit of a challenge at my age. I try to stick to 5 or 6 miles and no more than 1500 elevation change. I absolutely would like to check out Cedar Falls though and possibly 3 Sisters.

Hi Tim! Another amazing video! I love how you included the public by asking them to pick a hiking trail out of the hat! That was cool! These were some amazing hikes you shared! The first one, oh man, that was narrow but beautiful! I would have to wait some months before I tackle that one, lose a few pounds! LOL! I loved them all, San Diego is beautiful! I love the poatao chip cliff, looked just like one! Looked a little scary to me, but fun! I'm so happy you all enjoyed yourself. I was waiting for this video when I knew you said you were visiting Sand Diego! Good job, my friend! You're a Rock Star! Thanks for sharing, Have a lovely rest of your week! God bless!
