It covered the quarter-mile in about 18 seconds with a trap speed of 70 mph (113 kph). No bones about it, not exactly a rocket. 🚀 or ⛵ ?

My father had a 49' Olds Rocket 88 when this came out. Then a 52' then a 55'. Then upgraded to buying 98's starting with a 1962' Olds 98. All Olds 98's after that. Oldsmobile thru and thru.

Ike was playing piano in the Kings of Rhythm/Delta Cats. Willie Kizart, the group's guitarist, used an amplifier with a damaged speaker cone to get the raucous fuzzy tone. BTW, Little Richard basically copied the intro for his own song, Good Golly Miss Molly, a few years later.
