I think the act of removing trading is not the worst part of it. One could explain the reasoning for either removing a scam possibility, removing an unregulated market, to stay safe from new EU-laws or even to make the game more profitable by letting Epic get a stake in the 'second-hand' market of items. The worst part of it is the way they announced it out of the blue without any good explanation and without any good follow up. That just reeks of bad management and horrible PR decisions. That is what I am most scared of. That it is a signal that they do not care at all about the future of the game. That they actually do not have any follow up plan for the future of Rocket League. It feels like Heroes of the Storm all over that felt like a great game that was destroyed by the company because they just did not see a future in it. Also at least give the community something in return! Let us get more items from playing, allow in-game trading on a marketplace, switch blueprints to items, give us a guaranteed better investment in esports from gained revenue, give us more customization options as a return. Whatever. Just give the community something to evaluate positives.

I don’t trade yet and don’t really care for it but I feel like one of the biggest problems is they removed a core aspect of the game but what do they have to show for it? A reskinned map once every few months filled with bugs? A $20 car with the same 5 hitboxes that literally doesn’t even match the hitbox? Servers that consistently seem to be getting worse by the update? Since F2P I honestly can’t think of any new content I’ve been excited about or even enjoyed. It sucks because I have almost 4k hours in game and used to love everything about it but honestly I barely hop on anymore because it seems more like a chore than a game atp

As a rocket league trading KZbinr, this is definitely upsetting. Before I explain it I wanna give a shout out to all the rocket league trading KZbinrs. Most of us been doing it since trading first came out and I blew up during COVID making funny skits as well as teaching people how to trade for people to enjoy. I’m not very good at the game 😂 so I have no interest in creating content on this game anymore. None of us knew this was happening and it’s very heartbreaking. The unfortunate part is the damage is already done so if they were to bring it back it’s too late. Some of you may know me and if you do I hope all of you still enjoy the game!

Who cares if is not the main feature of the game, it’s still a well established feature of the game that has been in existence for over 6 years. Trading related content has been the most popular rocket league content on KZbin since 2017 and is pretty much the only reason epic makes money from the game. A huge chunk of players ONLY play to trade and probably about 80% play and trade.

I always try to think how certain decisions affect the average player. For example let's say there's a hard reset in mmr, to someone who plays maybe once or twice a week that won't mean too much so that'll get a small greenlight Something like removing trading though is an enormous red light. The average player would get a few good drops and want to trade them, that's gone now. I for example share this fact, I'm not a huge trader but when I started playing I was so excited to have got the fennec in a trade after saving up credits from birthday events. The same thing when I got it in a drop, my first time trading something with someone else shocked me with how i could get drops and get credits by selling them. All of that can never happen to some eager little kid who wants to play, epic and physonix made a huge error here and I pray that they'll change it

I barely play this game anymore, I come back once in a while, and I watch content, but really this only takes people like me away from the game. I really hope that epic realizes what they have done and how they killed this game. What is sad is that I’m just one person of many who share the same story. I can see that there is a liability if kids are buying credits with their parents cards and trading them to people (potentially scammers), which would make the credits non-refundable. In that sense, Epic is technically facilitating scams and profitting from it, which is grounds for tons of lawsuits. However, I don't think this is reason to get rid of trades completely. Just stop allowing the trading of in-game currency. Only allow item-for-item trading. I don't get why trading in general needs to be stopped

What's going to be disgusting about the item shop is that Psyonix is clearly out of touch with how their community values certain items. Sure some items that are thousands of credits on RL Garage are gonna be cheaper when they're in the item shop, but WAAAAAAY MORE items that are dirt cheap on RL Garage are gonna be double, triple & and quadruple the credit price in the item shop. The beauty of player trading let us dictate what was worth what, and it made sense, but once Psyonix has complete control over how much they think their items are worth we're gonna start seeing a lot of price gouging.

I think Epic really doesn't care much about the casual player base. RLCS is still growing, and I think Epic really just wants to focus on the competitive scene of the game because that's what gets new players. By competitive, I don't just mean RLCS but freestyling as well.

i think its the opposite. all they really care about is the casual playerbase. rlcs is just an avenue for the casuals to want to play or to introduce them to the game its marketing. but u cant really change much about rocket league at its core to cater to casuals like in fortnite they added no build for the casuals. cant really do that in rl. but what they can do is MILK THE FUCK outta them for all their money. this decision is so anti veteran player cause alot of vets arent gonna play after this and alot of vets for sure aint buying SHIT off the item shop cause we know its a scam. ya know who doesnt know its a scam tho? casuals

I'd say I had the same path as Striped loved trading to playing competitively, however this is such a huge part of RL's playerbase. Most pleyers are casuals and they are basically the backbone of the community. The more they leave the less towards hype for the game, prize rewards for tournments, and LAN tickets will drop in sales as casuals won't be as willing to go. Even if you are a comp player they still trade items to get a cleaner looking car. Looking back at it I've always wanted tournment rewards to become tradable and the RL Pass changing tradability. They have been planning this from the start and we've all see it's going to kill the game in the long run.

RL be going through the same events as MC a few years back: •Big corporation buys the Studio that works on the game •Big corporation starts slowly releasing less and less updates since it has its own popular games and only needed extra games to give out in their store/game pass (btw, Rocket Pass was included in September's Fortnite Crew which is a monthly subscription in Fortnite...) •Big corporation makes a big change to completely kill the game •The game blows up again a few years later and the big corporation cares all of a sudden... Out of these 4 "key events", RL has only 1 (and a half) left...
