Amazing video - the best I've seen of this attraction. Really rekindled some great memories - I was fortunate enough to go on the Rocket Rods during my visit to Disneyland in the summer of 1998 while I was out here in L.A. on an internship before I moved here a year later. Crazy to think it was only my second time to Disneyland! (The first one waas in 1983 when my family did a road trip from South Florida all the way across country to California!!!)

Amazing quality for one of the very few videos of this ride. Too bad GM backed out and the tracks were not banked so the ride could not be maintained when the Imagineers put this ride together. It should have been rebuilt like Test Track at Epcot which is supported by GM but instead with the short cuts made the cement could not take the beating with the heavier cars and after just a few years the ride was closed permanently, and the track cannot be used for anything now so it sits abandoned above Disneyland while Disney World remained true to its original design and still operates in 2024.

Tomorrowland IMO has sucked since this ride closed. I always loved to see the Rods zoom by all over Tomorrowland. Luckily I got to ride them once back in 2000 & they were fun from what I can remember. Can't believe its been twenty years since they closed forever. Still waiting for a replacement ride.

We’ll never get a replacement. The whole track would have to be torn out. This ride caused a lot of damage to the structures, which weren’t designed to support a high-speed attraction. It’s not worth the cost and Disney would rather spend money on Marvel and Star Wars crap.

I agree but the speed of Rocket Rods damaged the track severly. To bring back People Mover they would need to build a completely new track which means demolishing the buildings.
