Beaumont Central High School Band 2004 - UIL Region 10 Marching Contest

It seems so strange now, to think I knew a few of those people out there. I'm not an expert in any way, shape, or form, but I thought they did great.

Their primary focus is being a show band and entertaining the crowd at football games and other contests. Perhaps they are made to do UIL by the school district? This performance was actually one of their better ones. Drill was nice and the music was pretty good. Still entertaining to me. They do have pride but UIL is not their thing.

The rating was pretty fair "3". Central has an exellent drill. Musically, though, you guys need some work. The music has to have dynamic contrast and show some level of difficulty. This was the best one I saw though for UIL!!!

LOL!! U call mr. collins a so called band director but what u fail to realize is that before Mr. C The Nation had no IDEA who Central High School from Beaumont Texas was... On those classical Friday Nights at Half time the stands were empty!! no enthusiasum from the crowd at all.. Then In 1999 this Man came to Beaumont from Lake Charles Boston and Totally gave Central and the City of Beaumont a Breath of much needed fresh air..

Great response! Central does their own style and it may not be to UIL standards but they do entertain crowds at football games, parades, etc. which is fine by me. The only thing I have to say is that I wish Central would perform better in concert/sightreading contest.

I have no clue. I think the band director gave the whistle commands from the track.

thats very true........ there shows are somewhat entertaining, i was a Port Neches- Groves drum major, so i guess thats what i am used to lol...... Now that i look back, i was kind of a hardass, ohwell my band did great either way.....

this by far was one of the better performances Central performed for Region. My question is they are a great show band but if they don't want to come to region/district, why make them go? PA Memorial doesn't go.

By "UIL" standards this is pitiful. But this is not a traditional UIL band. This is a showband that doesnt put much time or thought, obviously, into UIL competition. I've seen this band before and they often times have done a good job as a showband. I just watched Ozen and they are show style and they made a one. What's the deal with that?

central just all around sucks........ theres never going to be anyone with enough sanity to fix this band.......... what happened to the central band of the early 90's......... And to the person who said that this is what people want to hear, its not........ the men and women who judge these contests are proffesionals and know what they are doing..... this band should have never even left their high school parking lot...... please move over for the bands that actually have pride in what they do.

as a show band, i am sure they are good, but you have to go back and look at how they were before this so called band director came into the picture, they were great. I still do not see how people could be proud of this mess they call a band... I think they should have a real band director who knows what he or she is doing get out there and help this band... They may be known around the world (doubt it) but if so it is for how horrible of a band they have turned into.
