+James Guiraud Probably rented. And on top of that, yes, complaining about budget when you have access to all this equipment seems ridiculous, until you understand how much it costs to get that equipment. Doesn't matter how much budget they got, they were probably still running tight.

So as I understand it, Freddie and Brandon parted ways because Freddie was more interested in following a traditional and professional hollywood style studio, while Brandon wanted to continue what they were doing with a more casual and amateur approach? Right? No flame please, I'm just genuinely curious to know what it was.

+MartoLun At the time Freddie was working hard on VGHS and Brandon was working on a Minecraft in real life movie. Around that time they decided to go their own ways. I think it was also partly because Brandon never got much credit, Freddie was mostly the star.

It could have been worse. He did acknowledge him as a friend and Brandon has done BTS videos for videos with Freddie since the split so they do at least seem to be able to refer to each if they need to without issue. I mean Sam and Niko of Corridor Digital helped them out almost as much over the years and there was no mention of them either, but I'm sure when time comes they'll be referenced if something comes up that directly pertains to them. At the end of the day this is a Rocketjump production about the current state of company more so than their past.

Alexis Some say they had an argument after Mojang shut down Brandon's plan for a Minecraft fan movie, I can't speak to that because I never saw the evidence (people claimed it happened on twitter), but shortly after the movie plan evaporated they did a short video explaining that Brandon was taking over the old Freddiew2 channel which he renamed BrandonJLA and continuing it as a "behind the scenes" and tutorial channel (but now seems to spend more time showing off the development process of the game he's making under the company name Stress Level Zero), while Freddie started putting more time into creating larger format videos like VGHS and making the Hulu show deal. Freddie clearly wanted to expand into bigger productions and more premium content, Brandon was content with KZbin and co-running the Node gaming channel, a channel developed by several KZbinrs together which shrunk in size after it's first year didn't go so well, he also became interested in game development, possibly as a result. Personally, I feel like it was a natural deviation from evolving interests.

I love how you guys at Rocket Jump never cease to entertain me. Not many KZbin channels turned companies make videos the same way anymore, or they lose their humor. Just look at Smosh. Anyway, you guys' channel have made me laugh to the point where I almost piss myself, made me almost cry. Almost! And made me stare at my screen in awe and disbelief at times. This is one of the few KZbin channels out there that I actually turn to when I need to cheer up and get my day running again. For that, I say, Thank you.

i agree with a lot of people the short was average, but nobody seems to commenting this... i honestly think the main problem was the stylisation, or rather the lack thereof. the selling point was shooting western like it's never been shot before, and the kick should've really delivered once she opened the door, but it never really did. on one hand, i wasn't sold that it was a western flick, like it would've been completely different if you cut together footage from an actual western and edited it to a trap song. on the other hand, the stylisation wasn't extreme enough, safe for a few scenes. and in the end most of it was this mediocre blend of the two where it did justice to neither part of what should have been achieved. just my opinion

Nice Vid Guys, but those Greenscreen scenes were so extremly awful, just to slow moves by the actors. Destroyed the whole action in my opinion.

the historical and scientific inaccuracies in this movie is just off the charts!!! Where do I begin? Chrome plating on the flask? Chroming wasn't invented until the 20th century! Only 4 Arabian horses in America? Even George Washington had one! The Stetson hat (cowboy hat)? Wasn't even designed then. Everyone just wore a bowler hat! Guns in the town? Most old west towns banned guns within the town/city limits!!! The horse brain? Bro, have you ever seen a dissected horse before? Electrically lit lanterns!? Do I even have too?

I know its very difficult to make a proper good short film, but this one was not good. For the amount of people working on the short you should have made a better one. The story is lazy and not amusing. Acting was a bit of at some points (accent) and i have seen way better VFX and greenscreen work from you guys. Becides that you should have thought twice about the cinematography. Let me give an example; 20:53 Woman disappears, i know why but it distracts me. 21:05 The car rig is also very cool but a shot from the back kills the speed of the horses. And (i'm not sure of this) but i looks like you tried to cover it up by speeding the shot to something like 105% 21:32 The go-pro shot is cool and very well done. However the first 40 frames where kinda pointless due to the fact that it has already been shown. I'd rather see the action happen from a total to the slowmo go-pro shot and not see the guy running into the board. 21:50 Worst greenscreen shot i've seen. Let it out. its an unnecessary shot (Same goes for the shot after that one) Overall: watch the focus. Bar shots and close-ups are not in focus. Very poor ending, was it because of the story or did you guys just quit shooting? Don't get me wrong tho, i have watched your videos for years now, you guys are part of the reason why i started my film education. However i've learned a lot ever sinds i started learing about fiction film and i'm bit dissapointed to see so much work going into something that isn't that good. I hope you don't get me wrong, i just want to let you know what i think. Keep making more video's and ill wait for the next video! Paul Snijder ps. Sorry for bad grammer - Dutch

The script is terrible and I know it is supposed to be cheesy and self-aware but it is boring and unfunny. You have money and directing skills but the script will always be the most important thing in a movie, no matter its length. Remember the video "A Conversation With My 12 Year Old Self: 20th Anniversary Edition"? Some very simple editing skills but great script and acting skills. You already had some incredible directing and special effects before, all you are missing and always have been missing is some good writing to go further. Because this is exactly like what you've made in the past, with only more money and more ostentatious. I am not blaming the writers for that, I am sure you all want them to go for something crazy and cheesy, you want your writing to be a pretext for special effects and not the special effects to serve the writing. I am waiting for a short film from you that flatters the intelligence of the viewer.

+totallyepic21 He is right. They have so much production value but so little good stories to tell. If this were a TV show people would say it was cheesy , bad written and boring. The same for VGHS.

+Jean Fauquenot I have go agree... It was too "in your face with these shots that went on for a bit too long to references to other things". It just wasn't there for me. The intertwining of the story and the references wasn't tight enough.

Meh.. average at best. Ending was the only decent scene, and maybe the carrot one, but that got destroyed by the anus camera.All and all, I think you guys lost "it" a while back. It just took me till now to realize. Seriously parodies are a way to rip off successful franchises legally. Do a non parody for once.. oh I forgot, original ideas hard.

+Jo Veteran Parody =/= Unoriginal A parody can be very original. People make fun of Fast and Furious all the time (cough* super fast cough*) and it can be terrible unoriginal and unfunny. This at least takes two tired genres and takes them into places you wouldn't expect.
@JoTheVeteran

Hayden Jacobson it can also be a lazy job when you don't have an original idea. In any case it doesn't have to be original, only good. See the rush video they did a while back for example. It's heavily influenced from Star Wars and Starcraft, and it's good! This is mediocre at best. That's my main problem.
