Sitting here in this room now....it is surreal because what I tried to do to myself; I shouldn't be sitting here. And I've been very, very lucky. Can we talk about how Elton John knows more about current music than me a 21 year old 😄😄😄😁

He's a very successful musician, it would make sense for him to know more about his own industry than a random 21 year old.

1sTEfFaniE1 😩 Random or NOT...the point is that Elton (a 72 y/o senior citizen) knows more 'bout today's young up & coming artists than that of the TARGETED 21 y/o audience youth ya knob! To point out is Elton's job to take notice of the new artists 'cos it's his industry is obvious as he's not quite ready to give it up completely. Yes, Elton's retiring from touring & him transitioning himself to radio & mentoring will KEEP HIM YOUNG AT HEART. However, THIS has NOTHING to do with Rayr's point that Elton knows more 'bout upcoming artist than him, a 21 y/o youth. In fact, it's a compliment to Elton: a) for being interested in them in the first place & b) wanting to help those he can to STILL have a hand in helping those young folks in this hard-doggy industry. 😩 Why do some ppl feel they can just shit all over someone's random post that gives love/homage 🙄? 🤨 Why not like or dislike the post w/o trying to belittle them or throwing shade😐?

@@Motown-1966 I didn't say anything rude, I just stated my opinion. If you have an issue with what I said then that's a you problem. I still stand by what I said, of course someone personally involved in the music industry is going to know more about current music than someone who isn't. The people he surrounds himself are probably also involved in the music industry.

1sTEfFaniE1 😩 Which is why your initial comment came off as rude ‘cos it’s obvious that Elton’s STILL heavily involved in the music industry...duh 🙄! Your “opinion” was meant to belittle and was mean spirited. BUT the rest of us here on YT can read and take at face value 🤨 which was why I called you out on it.

My mom was utterly shocked how many Elton John songs I was singing they were playing throughout the movie. And I told my mom I secretly love Elton John songs just like how I secretly love Freddie Mercury songs as well. And when Your Song came on I couldn’t help it I was singing and with my autism I was moving with the music. Music makes me super happy. And Elton is extremely lucky to be able to watch a film about himself. Keep imagining how Freddie Mercury would be if he watched Bohemian Rhapsody.

I am so happy that he asked for help when he needed it. The music world would not be the same without him - even now. I have been very blessed to have seen Sir Elton in concert a few years ago. I have nothing but respect for this talented and generous man. He gave all of his energy to make sure that we (audience) got what we paid for. Actually he gave more than that. I truly feel blessed that I was even in the same room as him. I wish so much that I could tell him how very much I am thankful for his time

I adored him and learned most of his songs on piano which I've memorized to this day. One of my only criticisms of the movie, there was never any mention of the amazing backup musicians Dee Murray (bass) or Nigel Olssen (drums) who played fantastic on every album & helped create & establish the Elton John sound on all the epic songs we know so well.

The portion about Mr. and Mrs. Dwight being all wrong for each other, breaking up and ending up with the right people afterwards is something to which I myself can easily relate, since my own parents went through the same thing. My mother is single, and my father is happily partnered with a different woman. My first Elton John song was the opening cut from his 1983 *Too Low for Zero* LP, “Cold as Christmas (In the Middle of the Year)”. After this interview, I’m now wondering whether Bernie wrote that lyric about Elton’s parents. It certainly was about mine. They even vacationed in the Caribbean (Puerto Rico), but that was their honeymoon.

I grew up in a loveless home and I absolutely related to the movie, and when the younger Elton asked the older Elton when he would get a hug.., well I fell apart!
