Fred Durst gets so much unreasonable hatred and is probably one of the most misunderstood and misrepresented characters in rock history. Chocolate Starfish shattered Guns N Rose's record for album sales and they were on top of the world. Then Wes leaves, to make literally the worst music of all time with his brother, while throwing fred under the bus, for rapping???, and the world dog piled on. Honestly I think alot of people had fears of hip hop taking over rock in some way and were itching to jump on the hate fred durst band wagon.

No. Noone gave a thought or care about Wes. He had a couple followers but Fred Durst was the king there for a small time. The start of the downfall was the Woodstock set. The media blamed and crucified basically him alone for killing the history of good vibes of Woodstock. After that the entire music genre got a black eye and many people kinda blamed him for less sales,publicity and more drama. All he did was kick ass but that one set sent him spiraling and many people jumped off his bandwagon at that time.

It was kind of a joke to a lot of people back then, but there are music snobs who will hate everything! I myself am really into Crowbar, Down, Pantera, and a lot of underground sludge metal. Doesn't mean I can't appreciate some country tunes when I'm driving (old country...not the new shit). I'm a snob too. Lol. I think we probably had the last really great childhood of any generation to come...if that makes sense. The internet and cell phones weren't as much of a time consumer, and we could get outside with neighborhood kids and just create fun things to do! Ding dong ditch was fun. We had better music back in the 90's too...I must say. Even the shitty people were better than the most famous acts out there now.
@kenderick1006 жыл бұрын
Most of that era of music was our generation of music so we are the last to see the best of rap metal and alternative metal at it's best I miss those days. When Deftones, P.O.D. papa roach, Ill nino, Linkin park, mudvayne, Soulfly, Static-X, Sevendust, Godsmack, System of a down, even Incubus when they were all coming out at the peak of their career it changed the formula of new age sound of metal that style was popular and being pushed into mainstream when it was still at it's best. that's all I was listen to during best years when I was kid.

It's because morons with their fragile little minds don't like it when other kinds of music are thrown in with Metal. They get butthurt if a band decides to use Hard Rock and/or Hip Hop in their Metal sound mostly because they can't appreciate other kinds of music besides Metal.

It's beautiful seeing bands I grew up on, and saw in concert (The first time I saw Korn live back in 2000, Staind was pretty new and was opening for them during the Sick & Twisted Korn tour. I never got to see Limp Bizkit live.) still having love for one another, and letting the childish shit go from back in the day that happened between them!! For the most part, anyway. I'm lucky to be able to still be proud of the majority of the bands from my generation who are still rockin' today too! Staind played while my Nephew was born 18 years ago, so even though Korn was the one I listened to most out of the three, Staind holds a special place in my heart for that too. I like how Aaron always seemed to go to the beat of his own drummer, even if nobody else heard the song. Limp Bizkit became more of a guilty pleasure for many people after their initial fame, and that's unfortunate. They do have SEVERAL solid songs! I'm sorry Fred lost everything! I knew his house was hit by the fires, but I didn't know our was this bad. I'm SO looking forward to Korn's upcoming release too. They've always got some sick shit up their sleeves! I just gained so much respect for Fred Durst. Not once, did I, and I assume anyone else, hear about him losing it all in the fire. He's apparently not the type of person who has fame and abuses it to get sympathy. He didn't post about it on social media, which I'm sure 90% of other celebrities would just for sympathy. Fred, I'm sorry that happened to you.

Everything you said was VERY true. It is not easy to be able to drop what made you become successful and go a whole different direction in music. Or anything in life for that matter. But Aaron Lewis is beyond words talented. And no words can explain. He did it made it look easy. And sound so authentic natural. Artists HAVE done it, but was it as successful as him in my opinion, no. And did they leave whatever genre that they became successful with, alone to a whole new one? No. They mostly all went with the same genre. That's why Aaron Lewis is so great and a legend in my personal opinion.

I've been saying for a while now the reason why LB has been so dormant and hasn't put any music out in the last 7 years is because Fred is clinically depressed.

I've met Fred a few times....he is super Awesome!. I used to hang out with John Otto the drummer of Limp Bizkit when he was in town here in North Hollywood area...my bro (good friend) , was John's roommate. ...its funny to me because back in 2002 I really relied on STAIND, Aaron Lewis & Limp Bizkit when my life fell apart and wife left me for another dude after she got pregnant by him. Their music totally kept me from hurting myself permanently. Never thought I'd get to hang out with Limp Bizkit fast forward from 2002 to 2016 I remember when I walked into John Otto's pad I saw a gold record that said STAIND....I asked John why he had it and he told me the he signed the band. LIMP BIZKIT & STAIND FOREVER💪 ...lol ...I even had STAIND refrigerator magnets of the band and logo along with their posters. Even went to Springfield Massachusetts and Jacksonville Florida

Like it or not, Aaron commands HIS shit! HIS show is what it is, and I've enjoyed every one I've been to! Even had the pleasure of a quick hand shake, and him thanking me for coming. Dude is SUPER humble, SUPER cool, and GENEROUS as fuck! But if you cross him or someone he considers a friend, he's gonna check that shit, point blank, period. Reminds me of the folks I grew up around here in NC. And it's refreshing to see an artist doing art HIS way, and not being fake to the pleasure of some record exec in Bev Hills......Staind was and is a GREAT BAND but those early years, Aaron wasnt Aaron. His songs will tell you that if you listen and connect the dots. IE, Country Boy, I Lost it All, It's Been Awhile, The Road, and many others.

Fred Durst is a cool ass dude and from what I hear, is one of the most genuinely good guys you'll ever come across. I never met the guy personally, but I do know that if I had to take as much hate as that guy does, I just don't think I would be so cool about it. It would just be a lot harder for me I think. Just his ability to brush off all that hate and keep doing his thing without a single fuck given, really speaks to a man's character and I respect that a lot.
