I saw them in the hay day. Probably the best live band I've ever seen. Make no mistake Andy Scott is a BEAST. I saw him do REAL guitar player shit in stack shoes that still makes me smile 42 years later. Black beard. Black hair. Bad ass. They blew Kiss off the stage without the effects. My favorite band ever because of seeing them open for Kiss one time. I'm trying to get money together for his autograph. I love this guy!

ANDY SCOTT is a TRUE TREASURE. He knows he is a very good player, but without arrogance. He knows his limitations, but is not limited by them. He obviously misses Mick, Brian and Steve and is proud to carry on their legacies at this stage. You can here how proud he is in these videos of SWEET being in the UK Charts (they were #1 for a little while) as well as overblown a little.

I love these series of interviews with Andy Scott, these are true rock history classes. What is absolutely amazing to see, is that he’s not only still planning new things, but that he keeps his well know spirit for perfection. Also, it seems to me that he became way milder with the years. I’m glad to see he’s still around and sincerely hope we can go to a Sweet concert again and have a great evening. Thank you for posting these videos

@showstopperrob10973 жыл бұрын
Well to me it's still Sweet. Althought the 3 piece band did take a break in '82. After that it's like Andy said, Mick and Andy picked it up again while Steve wasn't intrested. He didn't actually liked to tour again. While Andy also did have a side project "Paddy goes to Holeyhead" Which was actually the Sweet line up at that time but with Bruce Bissland on drums. It was called when Mick was on drums. Andy was also around the old Marquee club in London. Sweet had never played played there. After a chat they did play there with the new line up for 3 day's in Februari 1986 knowing, Andy Scott, Mick Tucker, Mal McNulty, Paul Mario Day and Phill Lanzon. One date was recorded and released on video and released 3 years later on a double album. This line up wa around for four years. In 1989 Paul left and stayed in Australia where he found his loved one and married. Phill left also and was repalced by several keyboard players and in Steve Mann, Andy found a steady keyboard player. Steve Mann was also playing in a band with Micheal Schenker at that time and was replaced if he was not avaible. Ater MickTucker got very ill, Bodo Shoppf took over drums who was also playing in Michel Schenkers band. Bodo had to many commitments and his place was then replaced by Bruce Bissland, who's now for more then 26 years playing drums.

However...it’s great that Andy still do it...but...the X-factor in Sweet was Brian. No one can replace him. I know he fucked up but he was one of a kind. ❤️

The original Sweet from the 70’s lezd singer and star was indeed Brian. But the other band members were way more than just a bass player or drummer. Since the early 70’s s, they have been singing as well. I much like Andy since my childhood, in my opinion at least, he brought lots of professionalism in the band. I’ve been to many of the band concerts in the last 30 years. Always very enjoyable evenings

Yes but we can't bring him back, so it's great that Andy is continuing the Sweet legacy for as long as he can & so the memory of those that have passed will live on.
@WupWup683 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly. Since Andy is the only surviving member of Sweet, it's obvious that his line-up is the only option now as far as live gigs are concerned - but the classic line-up (Brian, Mick, Steve, Andy) is really the only line-up that matters to me. I understand completely that Andy loves what he does, and he gives younger generations a chance to enjoy Sweet's music live, which is great - but it will never be like it was back in the 70's. The original four made magic together.

I think I'd turn Andy's answer back around on him & say, "Sorry mate, without Brian Connelly it just *isn't* Sweet". As has been reported profusely, Andy was having meetings with other members in Sweet when Brian was in the band, but not telling him. If you listen to interviews with Andy you can tell the antipathy he had toward Brian, and in this interview & others the antipathy that he oddly still has toward Brian to this day.

I don't know why but I have developed into a big sweet fan starting in 1990 and going strong until this very. I had met a sweet fanatic and since I remarked that I too liked some of the records he produced a cassette he had recorded one side old sweet and the flip side new sweet. It was then I poured through the songs stuff like I outta be committed and HELLRAISER etc. And all the newer stuff like oxygen and WINDY CITY and white mice. I began to feel part of the fanbase who know how each individual is a great player and you feel like you and the boys are like family

The way I see it.....even if there were no original members (which there isn't) nor any of the classic line-up members (Andy is the sole-remaining)..it is still the Sweet (or any other band) if they are continuing the legacy of the music that came before them and continue to move forward. The Boston Pops was founded in 1885 and still going strong and I'm pretty sure there are no original members remaining. I grew up a Dallas Cowboys fan back in the day before Roger Staubach. There are no members on the team's roster now from that era, but they ARE still the Dallas Cowboys and I am still a fan. I believe that this principle towards sports teams should apply to bands. I grew up with the classic lineup of Sweet ("Sweet Fanny Adams" was my first album and intro to the band), but some young kid today picks up "Sweetlife" or "Isolation Boulevard" and then becomes a fan of the band, becomes a fan of the band as it exists in this period of its history...it it still the Sweet.

He's the archivist. He holds the flame. Sweet are too important to lose and as long as Andy keeps doing it, it has to be a good thing. It probably isn't pure but is playing the Choral Symphony disingenuous because Beethoven died a while ago? See! Sweet need to be kept out there
@Baz633 жыл бұрын
A band is remembered when they are / were at their commercial peak. The Sweet had' their days' between 1971 and 1978. So although Andy is still touring and making the occasional record the classic line-up is what Joe Public remember. So no problem if Andy continues to call his band Sweet but in my heart (and i'm sure his) it really is not. Proof being that the so-called 'new' album Isolation Boulevard is just re-workings of the original band's material. As such, for me, this is a bit of a con. So if you insist this is Sweet then to have more credibility then surely it would have been advisable to wait until all the current members could get together and create their own music? But hey if it gives him a pension and people come to see HIM (lets be honest they are not coming to see the other guys) then that is cool.

Freddie and the Dreamers are still going ... there is no Freddie anymore and none of the original Dreamers. Dr Feelgood are still going ... with none of the original members. I don't get that at all. THEY are actually TRIBUTE BANDS. There must be a least one ORIGINAL member to carry a band forward.

Sweet died with brian.end of story.
