I don’t know why I never collected the shells before, but these monsters have opened my eyes! Definitely turning into a full blown beach comber 😂❤️

I just found you! How great! I, too, collect rocks and shells. I'm 76, so I have been collecting a long time! I'm in Eastern NC an d have a wee place at the coast. Where are you located?

Love it!! I’m located in San Diego, so hello from the other side of the country! ❤️ so happy to have you here! What’s been your favorite find so far in NC?

Shell at 13:22 is a Kellet's whelk, 14:12 is the California Cone Snail, 14:36 is a snakeskin turrid, the best place I've been in SoCal for shells is Isla Vista, I think the waves are a bit calmer and the shells wash up in really great condition.

You are amazing! ❤️ Thank you so much for helping ID these. I also learned that the “shark eyes” are different moon snails as well. Love learning this! I will definitely check out Isla Vista. Never been there. I appreciate you and the tips! 🫶

Do you have any recommendations for sites or books to help identify them?

@@RockhoundAdventures I recommend iNaturalist. You can highlight a specific area on the map and see all the species that people have found in that area. For example, if you wanted to see snail shells that can be found on the beach, type gastropoda in the search function. Last summer, I took a 2 day trip from my home in San Francisco to Newport Beach in search of a specific species called the Solander's Trivia. I used iNaturalist to narrow down places to look. I'm going to be studying environmental science in Monterey Bay this fall so if you're in the area let me know and I can show you some amazing spots for shells.
