Spent some time on a Saturday rockhounding on the Tahuya River finding some amazing rocks and having a great time. Shout out to Old Guy Adventures (not Old Man Adventures -doh!) ( / @oldguyadventures ) and Vug Meister ( / @vugmeister918 ) for their great videos and information! Sorry about the glitches in the video, old computer and free editing software, lol.

Gotta love river hounding in the northwest! Rocks that smell like dead salmon lol. Great finds, the jasper looks different than what I find here in northern Oregon. cool to see some epidote, we just dont really have much if any at all here.

Lol, yeah, all my finds spend a couple of days in a bleach/ water solution. I need to get back out there soon. Thanks and I hope things are going great for you!

Enjoyed your energy and the detail you put into describing your finds. If our paths cross down at Lincoln Park I'll make sure to say howdy although I've kinda stuck between Alki and Constellation Point at the present searching for rocks lol.

If I went out there I would make sure I have someone with me so I don't end up walking the whole length of the river :) lol You have some nice finds there. I find rocks around Seattle, Tacoma, Snoqualmie areas and between in Washington.

That "poppy jasper" at 5:24 is amygdaloidal basalt. Should polish up pretty well, but not a jasper.

The "rock" you was wanting to know about the real light one well they used to make fake wood beams out of hard dense foam insulation and that's probably what that is the color and how light it is gives me the opinion take a knife and cut it in two or a saw should be very easy

Just discovered this video. Thanks for letting me tag along! Did you ever figure out what the jack-o-lantern rock was? I’m just a newbie rockhound, but the rock you thought looked kinda like a fossil looks like a fossilized fish head to me. lol Some cool finds.

That first green rock is serpentine, not quartz matrix, rhyolite.

5:20 is orbicular. Definitely not poppy. Poppy jasper is defined by "petals" of color around a center color. The red and yellow is closer to what could be called poppy. I've got a whole video dedicated to Poppy Jasper from the Rogue River. The giveaway to poppy is that it will look like color was deposited in thin directional drops of wafer thin color.

Whenever you plan a rock outing sometimes you can find a local rock club that can point you to more interesting digs or places off the beaten path. It's always worthwhile and almost every town or city has a club if not make one . Just post online for a meetup with interested parties. By the campgrounds probably picked over as you said. But on the banks or farther away from the banks tributaries and Rock piles will present something. Happy Rockhounding.
