We had fun even if we were a little chilly. I just got back from four days in the U.P. living in a tent again. It was mostly in the upper forties or very low fifties the whole time and rained most of the days. It was pretty much just like Montana weather.

A couple years ago I floated down the Yellowstone from Paradise Valley to North Dakota. 34 days and 550 miles. I was a Rookie but we got great agate, petrified wood , jasper and a little quartz. Amazing trip. Hope you had fun, the video you guys did was fun to watch. I couldn't send a message to Rob at Michigan Rocks. My phone has a problem.

@Michigan Rocks yes we hit the sweet spot after high and about at a medium flow, we're rookie rafters so still eye opening water. The many , many islands were great for lots of rocks . Sunrise and sunsets were great for finding recently exposed agates, they shine when the sun was low in the sky behind them ! Your Montana friends in these videos have great Channels also , fun and learn lots. Thank you.

That was such a neat adventure with Kate! It's hard to predict the best time out on the Yellowstone with runoff and this year has just been weird weather everywhere! But it has been so fun seeing you out in our neck or the woods! And it's been awesome watching the Collabs! Thanks Rob and Kate!

I tried to get there before the run off, but it didn't quite work out. Kate didn't think this was the actual snow run off, but rather run off from recent rains. She wanted to take me to some other places, but I had a great time at the places that we did go to.

I like yard work, most of the time. I think I get to cut the grass today. I've been out of town for four days and haven't really looked it over to see if it needs it yet. I'd love to meet up with more rockhounds too, but this is a big country!

I like colorful rocks. I also like some gray rocks like banded chert and Petoskey Stones, but I'd like those even better if they were colorful.

NO YOU DIDN'T! Hahaha I have been watching videos of others going there and it's just too much. I was going to (or maybe I did when I last messaged you) drag you out there. I don't even think I can watch this one. I have seen so much gorgeous agate and blue chalcedony and jasper to make me salivate over my entire desk. It's like wanting a certain thing for xmas sooo bad. I am so weird at times. I just know you and Kate had an amazing time!!! I can't wait to see what you brought back and slabbed or tumbled! I might have to watch though to find out what those rich blue and the purple stones are. Everyone passes them up.

It seems to me that they have a lot of beautiful wood and jasper there. I look forward to seeing how some of your rocks look after being tumbled. I'll put out a video when they get done, but it won't be anytime soon. As for polishing, I haven't kept any secrets about how I do it. It's not hard, it just takes patience.

Thank you for your video. I have learned so much about tumbling rocks from your teaching and was so pleased you are in our state. I was rock hounding at the confluence of the Clark Fork and Blackfoot Rivers yesterday and noticed a lot of green rocks. I have also noticed the difference in the rocks on the Pacific side of the Divide compared to what you find on the Atlantic side.

I sell stone crosses, little turtles, guitar picks, beads that fit Pandora bracelets, heart shaped pendants, other pendants, and Christmas ornaments at that time of year. Hi Rob, Have really enjoyed these latest videos and where you went, fellow explorers and the different types of rocks that you found. I got out my tumblers and looked up the video where you dialed in the lotto vibratory tumbler (your second one). We were not producing shiny results and seemed to be having the same issue you were. My hubby followed along and then when I got it started again it was making a lot more noise then previous and now I am wondering what we may have done wrong or if you have any suggestions. Love your channel - Thanks so much for all you do for all of your subscribers!!

You do have to be careful to not adjust it to be too aggressive. You can break the springs if you go too far. Don't go by my measurements, but adjust it while it's running and watch the action in the barrel.

@@MichiganRocks I did and I got 8 agate, two golf ball size and some nice patterned jaspers and petrified wood. It was hard going , raining, blowing a gale and sea foam kept covering the rocks. Still got some nice reward for sticking it out.

Another great video. I have agatized and opalized wood from the Bakken oil fields in North Dakota. It was dug up while putting in plumbing in the boom towns. But I don't think ND is a rockhounding destination.

I drove right through North Dakota on the way to Montana. I wasn't opposed to stopping, but I didn't have any good places that I knew of to stop.

Yep, that was Kate's dog Kava. Kava was really well behaved, except that she would climb into the front seat as soon as we got on a dirt road because she knew it was almost time for rock hunting.

There isn't much petrified wood in Michigan. There's a little, but it's very rare and only occurs in a very few places as far as I know.

I would like to know how far from Billings Montana is the location on Yellowstone River. How far from Billings? Is it a public beach, or private? I saw a UTUBE on a agate hunt on the Yellowstone, and she found one the size of a soft ball😲

Both places we went were public. I don't remember the name of the first spot, but the second one was pretty close by. The second spot is Howery Island.
