I listen to this song every day. It takes me back to my childhood when my mother was a young, vibrant woman and my siblings and I played all day in the streets of our Cleveland, Ohio neighborhood. Back then my biggest problem was getting home before the street lights came on. I had no bills, nobody died, the internet did not exist so people actually talked to each other in person. Why do we have to grow up?

I heard this for the first time in Cleveland!! I spent my summers there from 1974-1981!!! Dynes Ave, Holly Hill, Invermere Ave!!! My cousins introduced me to absolutely fabulous music!! This Brooklyn Girl had a wonderful childhood filled with beautiful music and memories!!!

I'm sitting up here crying listening to this song. It's the best of my very early childhood. Thinking of all my loved ones that have passed on, and being grateful for those still here. I'm 51 and by God's grace I still have both of my parents. But those summer vacations in Chicago, those times when we would run to meet our grandparents getting off the plane, everybody gathered around the big table. Man, this song is like a time portal. I'm 5 years old all over again. Thank God for music. 💗💗🦋🦋

I know many hear this as a couples love song, but when I hear this I think of daddy. I miss you so much, but I know God blessed me with so many memories through the music you played. You were not only my superman, but you are the only man that loved me without hurting me. I thank God everyday that I finally told you about the molestation. thought I was trash, ugly and in some ways brought it upon myself. But it was the moment the family meeting was over and you told me it happened to you as well. Daddy it was then I knew you understood me . I miss you so much and I tell God everyday I want to go home but only if I am with you. I love you daddy

I know right!! People don't sing about love anymore, but only about sex and what they can do in the bedroom. What happens when they get out of the bed? Gosh!! I love this song. I listen to it pretty much everyday. Although it's twofold for me because it brings me happiness but also sadness When I hear it. The happiness is of days when loved ones were still living and I was a young girl and life was great and the sadness is that some of my loved ones have passed on and the beautiful memories I shared when they were here. I'm missing them. They just don't make music like this anymore.

I agree, those times you cherish when so many family members were still here and life was much simpler, 1980 was a coming of age year for me right out of high school, we never thought that life would change so much decades later..

We used to throw house parties that lasted well into the wee hours of the morning! My husband played the best party music and this was one of his jams. The house would be packed, eating, drinking and partying. Around 3 a.m. he would turn the lights on , the music off and tell everybody “you ain’t gotta go home but you getting the f... outta here!” Best days of our lives! Rest in Heaven baby.

Dig deeper. I know because 1978 was my senior year and it played at my prom. Remember back then they had soft releases. It was re-released in 1980, the year I went into the service. I cant post the screen shots but its there on google.
