My grandpa was the lead singer of Steppenwolf in 79, and when this popped up in my recommended I got fuckin goosebumps
@lesschoenberger30704 жыл бұрын
You mean he was the lead singer in one of the bogus bands that called themselves Steppenwolf, not THE Steppenwolf with John Kay.
@DPSimpson4 жыл бұрын
@@lesschoenberger3070 Nick st Nicholas and Ruben DeFuentes, 2 original members of John Kay Steppenwolf were playing with my grandpa. They are as real as the John Kay steppenwolf
@lesschoenberger30704 жыл бұрын
@@DPSimpson I am sorry to disagree with you but no they are not original members. The original members of Steppenwolf formed in 1967 were: John Kay Jerry Edmonton Goldy McJohn Michael Monarch Rushton Moreve Nick St. Nicholas was a member of the Sparrow which was the band right before Steppenwolf, and when Rushton Moreve was fired from the Wolf they asked Nick to rejoin them since they knew him. He lasted about 1.5 years and he also got fired. Steppenwolf disbanded for the second time in late 1976, and a seedy guy named Steve Green convinced Nick and Goldy McJohn (who also was fired in 1974) to go back out on the road and call themselves "Steppenwolf" since the name wasn't being used, and they got some singers like Tom Pagan, Bob Simpson, Larry Green, Peter McGraw, Tim West, Tommy Holland, Dan Coenen and Nick Graham and at one time there were 4 or 5 bands at the same time saying "we're Steppenwolf" but they weren't, they might've had a few players who used to play with John Kay at some time but they weren't Steppenwolf, they were people who never were in the band like Ruben DeFuentes and drummer Frankie Banali who later was in Quiet Riot and many others, but they all were referred to as "bogus" Steppenwolf bands and they also got in a lot of legal trouble for calling themselves Steppenwolf, and that forced John Kay to hit the road in 1980 and call the band "John Kay and Steppenwolf" so the fans knew he was the real thing, and they drove all these bogus bands out of business in short order. Again I don't mean to be mean or cruel, and this takes nothing away from your Grandpa, but whatever band he sang in was just a band with maybe one or two players who at one time played in the real band Steppenwolf and got fired. Google "Wolf sightings 1977-80" and it talks about EVERY band that was out there using the name and when, you'll see your grandpa's name listed.
