Kanami's tribute on Eddie's passing "Eddie Van Halen-sama… I got to know about tapping from your Eruption, and I have been writing instrumental songs hoping that one day I could create phrases like yours that pierce our hearts… You were a guitar hero I admire. May you rest in peace."

When Eddie passed away, kanami said on Twitter that she had practiced tapping because she admired him. Eddie's spirit was carry on to her.

Kanami’s biggest idol is Santana, but you really can hear some EVH on her playin’..And lot of influences from 70’s and 80’s Western music for her Father’s record collection. Kanami is pure genius as a composer and amazing musician 🔥❤️ Lovin her and Band-Maid ❤️

Band-Maid brings the rock. These five petite young Japanese females are a POWERHOUSE of rock. Their music, their vocals, their sound is made for large arenas.

Petite? Well, Miku and Mincho are, but Akane is 5'6" and MISA is 5'8". 🙂

Eddie Van Halen was my favorite guitar player of all time, the KING of the Rock guitar. That is, WAS my favorite until the QUEEN, Kanami Tono, arrived. She is a genius. Same with Band Maid in general… I thought the best of rock was behind us….until the Queens of Band Maid arrived. Great reaction. I LOVE BAND MAID ❤❤

A great choice for your second song to react to. "Puzzle" OLV from Tokyo Garden Theater, a great show. Not on their official site, but there is a live acoustic version of this song with just Saiki, the lead singer, and Kanami, the lead guitarist. The song has the same lyrics, but wow, the emotional feel between the two versions is like night and day. And bonus, you get to hear Kanami do backing vocals... Keep on rocking with the Maids. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘

Thanks for the reaction and comments. Puzzle is an emotionally charged, epic composition that pulls on the heartstrings of their listeners. Looking forward to your next B-M reaction video. Until then...Cheers!

I also feel like Kanami (lead guitarist) has been influenced by Eddie Van Halen. I hear it as well. She definitely has that 70's and 80's feel to her playing. Great reaction guys.

Kanami was influenced by Carlos Santana that`s because she pick up Paul Reed Smith (PRS) guitars. There is a picture of her taking a selfie where he was playing.

It's a complete PUZZLE to me why the entire rock world aren't (yet) solid Band-Maid Fans! Is there some language / cultural / sexist chauvinism going on? Is it just incompetent marketing? Is there NO GOD to give some justice where justice is due? ;-) Luckily for them, Band-Maid continues to accelerate in creative song writing, performance, and sold-out shows worldwide.🤘🎀🤘Thx Band-Maid fans, Maidiacs, and Sawyer & Mike!

kanami always states that santana is her favorite guitarist in all of the interviews she has done plus the documentary on her. she has mentioned eddie once or twice though

She also calls jazz guitarist Larry Carlton a major influence.

I often call Kanami (and a few others), guitar snipers. I’ve been playing 35 years and the precision in which she executes has no other match. If you ever want to waste an evening of your life, try one of her riffs or solos. Yeah you can get it almost right, but never exact.

Kanami's biggest influence was actually Carlos Santana. They have a song called Ai to Jonetsu no Matador where you can really hear it.

Carlos and Eddie were both strong influences on Kanami.

From JAPAN. Thank you for your reaction to BAND-MAID. It is well known among fans that when Jimmy Page visited Japan in November 2016, he was so impressed with AKANE's drumming at the BAND-MAID show that he went all the way backstage to meet with her for a two-shot photo. Also, the legendary producer "Tony Visconti" (who produced David Bowie and T. Rex) offered to BAND-MAID . The song "The Doragon Cries" was recorded at his studio in New York.

The two guitarists that Kanami Tono credits as her influencers are Carlos Santana and Larry Carlton. But OTOH, I hear a lot of Angus Young in her play. Sure, the finger-tapping and pull-offs bring Eddie Van Halen to mind, and I first made that comparison when I heard "Onset" for the first time.

For another blazing fast guitarist, check out Hal-ca from Asterism. "Dawn" kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKa0gal_g6-Wd5I I would rate Kanami as the best all-round guitarist but Hal-ca is an even better shredder.
