I get a lump im my throat when Stuart addresses the crowd here. I became a lifelong fan of Big Country when I saw them live on their first American tour. I was 17 and it was one of the most electrifying, emotional and inspiring concerts I've been to. I was absolutely sure that they were going to take America by storm and become huge here. Shame on my fellow Yanks for not embracing such an incredibly talented and passionate band. It's their loss. God bless Stuart always. A beautiful human being.

I was lucky enough to have Stuart hand me and my girlfriend a couple of beers back in 1993. They were playing a small venue in Vancouver called the Town Pump. Maybe 80-100 people in there. Played their asses off and then took a break between sets. The whole band sat down at the table next to us (I was wondering why it was empty!). Stuart was wiping his face and then leaned over and asked if we were enjoying the show (man, were we!). A tableful of beer was dropped off after they all sat down and he picked up two of them and handed them over to us. For the next half-hour they signed autographs and chatted with every fan who came over. What an awesome night, seeing a band of this caliber in such a tiny venue. I cried like a baby when he died. RIP, Stuart...

Absolutely agree. The audience needed Stuart and Stuart needed the audience, that was the fuel for his guitar. I occasionally hear a Stuart Adamson chord or two in some new stuff from other people and I have to double take . Just glad there's so many live albums and bootlegs to bring back the memories.

Truly gifted musician, and deep man (classical subjects in songs - Lost Patrol, Porroh Man, etc), and an Adonis to boot. Seems like he would have just been a really amazing person to know, to chat with. A terrible loss, irreplaceable.

@Nigelxman I could not agree with you more. This band should have been as big as any of them. How a band can have as many great songs as this band and yet be considered a one hit wonder is so unfair.i think that a huge mistake was made by not getting a second hit song out of the album The Crossing.I think that "Chance" should have been released as a second single in North America. It is a great song and i think it would have given them a second hit and a bit more momentum in America.Canadian Fan.

@swassontelus no one's stealing anything...who are the fools exactly? This is just Big Country having a good old time on stage, you do know that right? I think it's ok to do a cover every so often after pumping out boat loads of brilliant original material, which is clearly and readily displayed to the right of this video. By that time, they created 9 years worth of brilliance, or put another way, a whole Hell of a lot more than 2 tunes. And BC fans don't throw donuts.

I don't need lectures on depression or any other mental illnesses. GIve me a break. I was not asking why Stuart killed himself. Duh. Save your diatribes. And CAPITALIZING text doesn't make anyone read it with greater interest. Stop yelling. I love that BC chose to cover this Neil classic. Focus on the music. I know very well that Stuart suffered. I'd rather remember his brilliant compassion for humanity.
