I loved this song. It was our high school theme song. We sang this song at all the pep rallys before football games and the band played it and we sang it at all the Fairfield Industrial High School football games. That was '58 thru '62 for me. I imagine it was sung for years after I graduated.

On this day in 1958 {December 18th} Bobby Day performed "Rock-in Robin" on the late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand'... Four months earlier on Aug. 4th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; it peaked at #2 {for 2 weeks} & spent 21 weeks on the Top 100 Michael Jackson covered it in 1972 as "Rockin' Robin"; he peaked at #2 on both the Top 100 & R&B charts In 1964 the Rivieras released their version, they peaked at #96 RIP Mr. Day {1928-1990}, Mr. Jackson {1958-2009}, & Mr. Clark {1929-2012}

I bought this for my cousin's 15th birthday in 1958. It was her very favorite song at the time. I was 9 years old at the time. I do remember that Over and Over Again was on the flip side! Yes, it was the original release! Never forget that! She was so happy and kissed me! Haha! It was about that time that I saw the original movie "The Fly".... looking back on THAT, it was totally ridiculous! Saw the movie in a town of 1200 people in Oklahoma.... Konawa!

My Mom liked her dowop music,and she was sad it had all but disappeared by the 80's. I liked her records of old rock'n'roll groups of the 50's and early 60's. She liked old country music, too. I was brainwashed counrty, but thanks WLS AM radio station in Chicago I finally went new rock in 1976 with ACDC. However, I still miss the old 50's classics which must be played on an iMAX radio or some station somewhere for local stations don't seem to have an audience anymore. Well, so much for the book that I wrote--just say Elvis was leaving the building. Later, man.

Sean Da Best yeah and one day 50 years from now hardcore liberals will say that about today’s music when others yearn for the old times. Because someone says they want to go back doesn’t mean they are insinuating they just want to go back so they could lynch minorities, women stay in the kitchen, and gays didn’t exist or something. They aren’t thinking negative.

I have always thought that if this great rock n roll tune had more adult lyrics it would have been brought to the attention of the likes of Elvis and Jerry, imagine it with 'grown up' lyrics, it would have been a worldwide, classic smash.

Not really, these lyrics were the style at the time. Chuck Berry had similar lyrics (granted, he also had more adult songs, but his main thing was gimmicky novelty songs).

But when I say emo, i don't even mean depression, back then girls would just talk about love life troubles like " oh man I hope Danny notices me". Man what happened to our world. And I just mean when people could express their feelings without social media or being silenced by all of the social media. Where does all the time go? One day society will kill off the weak, and corrupt the strong. Unless the people of today realize the truth around them.

+Keshun Grantham The Jackson Five probably recorded this version as "Filler". A lot of Rock Stars covered other people's songs to fulfill an album obligation that a certain amount of songs were on an Album. The Beach Boys did that when they covered "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" by Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers as well as "Do You Wanna Dance" by Bobby Freeman.

On this day in 1958 {January 7th} the Hollywood Frames performed "Buzz-Buzz-Buzz" on the ABC-TV program 'American Bandstand'... At the time the song was at #14 on Billboard's Top 100 chart; and five days later on January 12th, 1958 it peaked at #11 {for 1 week} and spent 17 weeks on the Top 100... It also reached #11 {for 1 week} on Billboard's R&B Best Sellers chart... Lead singer Bobby Day, as a solo artist, would entered the Top 100 later in 1958 with "Rock-In' Robin"*; it would peak at #2 {for 2 weeks}... * This is the way Billboard spelled the title of the song in their magazine in 1958...

StormTheEevee That is, except the people who didn't like the music of 2012. The video game music of 2008-2018, yes, people WILL be wishing for some of the Nintendo musical artists stuff to be popular again. It all really depends on where you live in the world. If you didn't mean to add negative connotation to your words, StormTheEvee, then what goes on beyond hear is simply useless rabble, and I am sorry. I may have misuderstood your comment. However, I must ask that you keep your "kids are dumb" in your mouth, because what goes on, moves on, and we forget about what has happened... This person who you are commenting on is unable to know what happened back then, and you aren't helping this in anyway, and I assure you that this person is unaffected by the things surrounding this type of music back when. Again, it really depends on where you live. If you live in rural east-southernish USA, then people never even hear of the new songs, they just keep on singing the songs from their childhood and things.

I love this song!! Ive loved since I was very young. My brother would hide in a tree with a stuffed animal bird and I would blast this on a "boombox", and he would shove the bird out and say," tweet tweet". The neighbor kids loved this!

Everyone on this comment section is complaining about how people in the time we live now make bad music compared to this stuff right here, like then don't fuckin listen to that bullshit music then. Fuck. Just stay in your lane and listen to something different like Country or Rock. Easy as that! And another thing, how can people dislike this unique, mind crafted, well-written art?

First of all where is the discrimination everyone is screaming about that supposedly went on in the 50's & 60's...there was none...we ALL mixed togther..so that can stuff that crap...Second, those who think they're singer's today,, do'n't know squat about music....all we hear is rap crap and filthy langugage......what you're watching on You TUBE right now was the best of the best of music era's.......no one cared what color anybody was, we loved the music, we loved the performers, "colored and white" danced together, sang together and we WERE true friends with each other.....what we have TODAY is racism and if anyone thinks whites like it, they're out of their minds...and for the blacks who are creating this racism, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, the Panthers and the rest of their ILK.....we want our days of NO RACISM back...and ya'll need to learn what real music is.......

That was really a great video and good thing those people behind the scenes knew what they were doing. The different camera shots of the singer and people dancing. Also, the taping...who would have thought of taping for future viewing. I don't think anybody had a clue that these TV tape recordings would be showing in our computers far into the future at that time. Mind boggling.
