www.dec.ny.gov/docs/fish_marine_pdf/rkldlkmap.pdf -ha, i just realized my commentary is wrong. the deepest dropoff is more SW than anything. the contour map is also where i was alerted to the presence of musky. i watched your video. first of all, i had no idea there were smallmouth! also, those jumbo perch scream ice fishing to me! i'm definitely hitting this place in the winter! as for today...it's very tempting, i'll let you know. what side would you start on?

We park in what is called Trough Hollow. It's on the North East corner , south-east of the pool.

Fishing has been very tough this year all around. I have kept fishing the East river because it is right next to my building for the past two weeks sometimes staying up until 4 am and I have only caught 2 oyster toadfish and these fish are tiny and put up no fight. Glad to seem someone in NY having success. If you want some ideas check out New Croton Reservoir I have caught nice crappie there this year. Another place to check out is Sterling lake where they have a sustainable population of lake trout so maybe a new species opportunity. Another option is to fish saltwater with small spoons and catch small bluefish. I have caught small snappers in the shallow areas of long Island Sound like under (whitestone bridge francis lewis park) I think many people consider Tiger Musky musky I just dont like the fact that they are sterile and can not reproduce seems just off putting that an animal can not reproduce. Good luck with the musky fishing I hear it gets expensive. This year I am going to fish the waters of Long Island trying to surf fishing with lures so that will cost me a pretty penny. Good luck Red and enjoy the last two weeks.

out of like 4 outings there, i have only ever caught ONE fish in the east river. it was a very small black sea bass. i actually have some footage from croton reservoir (is new croton different?) but i only caught a green sunfish and nothing else really happened so i didn't make a video out of it. i think it was john b who caught some monster lakers recently, looks like fun! so i'm putting out a video today where the fishing sucked (something really bizarre happened though), but it's at a lake where at one time (probably a long time ago) there were Norlunge (the other word for tiger musky), northern pike, and chain pickerel! there is a sign to prove it! i've never heard of all three Esox species in one lake at the same time. but you'll see, this lake is now an absolute mess.

I know im late bro im born and raised right around the corner from Rockland and you were wasting time even worrying about tiger muskies there they haven’t stocked it in over a decade and from what i hear a tiger muskies life span is only about 7 years soo i can almost guarantee there aren’t anymore in there. Theres always the myths but from personal experience i haven’t heard of somebody catching one since i was a young kid and im 30 now... still hear stories of how if you were lucky you could witness one jumping out the water to snatch a duckling!it sucks because I would love to hook into one!!!!!!! tight lines

I have a photo of me with a 36 inch tiger Muskie I caught at Rockland lake around 1995. The thing is bigger then my whole leg. First cast of the day on a minnow. Didn't even catch a nibble the rest of the day. Also have many photos of me with 4 and 5 pounders there. Once they stopped renting boats I stopped fishing there. Great bass lake.

sorry, i'm late now too. yeah muskie spots seem really hard to come by in this region. when i go to my parent's house in PA, the local park (Lackawanna State Park) has tiger muskies, but I've never caught one there. of course it's on my bucket list, but not sure i'm willing to shell out for actual muskie equipment.
