You really hit some stride with this vid! Polish, content, relevance, new direction - loved it. Of your recent ideas this one resonates the most and it seems you enjoyed making something of this quality - it shows in the finish. Was left with good vibes and keen to get over there. More plz.

Nice footage, great to see you found the awesome playground that is Rocklands :-) Hope you get to explore other parts of the country, there's so much else to see and do as a climber. Just a piece of advice to you and other viewers, if you want to keep your camera or phone and other valuables then don't do what Nate did and walk around solo filming yourself in Cape Town's city centre. Our crime rates in the city aren't a joke. You'll stand out as a tourist and make for a very easy mugging target any time of day. If that's what you want to do then have a local with you or get advice from one about where it's safe to do that and where not. Also many nicer spots to see in and around Cape Town than where you were walking Nate, hope you got to see some.

One of your best videos yet Nate. Enjoyed it a lot and I'm not even that interested in bouldering or South Africa! You told a good story there.

Hi Nate, In your video "What Would Happen If You Committed To Your Passion" you said that despite having had several injuries (shoulder impingements, etc.) you continued climbing over the years, and now you also climb really hard routes. I also have had shoulder problems, and they keep coming back every time I try improving and climbing harder. I would be extremely grateful, if you could maybe make a video about how you got over your injuries and can continue to climb. My physio once told me that climbing just isn't good for shoulders in general, and that there isn't much you can do. I don't believe that though, there are so many people who had injuries, but can now climb again. I hope you read this comment :) Thank you in advance, Annika

Hi Annika, sounds like pretty bad physio advice.. climbing is not necessarily bad for your shoulders (it can make them really strong) but it can lead to imbalance - this can generally be fixed or prevented. I showed this message to the Physio I was using in Cape Town and she got all passionate about it - she knows her stuff and for sure can help. I would recommend you talk to her (Jesse) - she is literally just starting doing online/video consultations and it is very good value for money. I would just hit her up via email; jlw.thestudio@gmail.com or whatsapp; +27 62 074 0550 - maybe mention you were the youtube commenter for reference!

@@NateMurphy Thank you so much! Good to hear that shoulder issues don't necessarily mean an end to my relatively short climbing carreer :) I will definitely get in touch with Jesse.

Yeah! I know quite a few climbers who have had pretty serious shoulder issues but recovered to climb way harder. That's awesome - she is so good :)

good vid, nice aerial shots, place looks beautiful. How does it compare to Font?
@NateMurphy
@NateMurphy 6 жыл бұрын
Only need to say one thing: jug topouts. Personally I think it is a lot better. Less polish, better rock and way better weather. Font is great, but I preferred rocklands by a fair margin.

Thanks Nate, Jug top outs are handy when its a highball. I like the circuits in Font to warm up on, is there lots of problems in one place in Rocklands too to get a good warm ?

I'm not sure if you mentioned it in the video, but where can you rent bouldering pads?
@NateMurphy
@NateMurphy 6 жыл бұрын
You can rent them *think at hen house* but not quite sure - mostly they won't be amazing from what I have been told. Best to bring one if you can - you can often sell it to local climbers at the end of your trip as they are expensive new due to import taxes/shipping to SA etc..
