Just watching this music video of HeYong first time. He could be considered a Chinese Bob Dylan type! He was so soulful and poetic, almost counterculture! This video touches even for someone like me a Chinese American. I imagine the transitional days when China was modernizing in the late 80’s through the 90’s? brought lots of deep and mixed feelings in the hearts and minds of artists, writers, poets, thinkers. Such fertile time for the creatives in China! I love seeing these earlier music artists, i have seen a few others. Going even further to the 60’s, I stumbled into some 60’s Chinese movies of the revolution. Female heroes. Such as the movie drama that the ballet epic Red Detachment of women was based on. Whew! China is always inspiring for me. My heritage is rich in everything! ❤️🙏☮️ I love some great aspects of modern China such as its infrastructure, architectural wonders. But sometimes i wonder if too many big consumer malls are necessary. But the middle class is rising…good too. And people in the parks dancing and singing seem to give the picture that the Chinese are happy and content. But the modern popular singers seem to be boring! China always surprises!❤️
