Tom talks about his rock scene growing up as a young kid-- and first seeing the Beatles and then The Monkees on TV and then... "I started hearing a different sound than the Beatles or the Monkees... and it was like Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith and once I heard that... and the Rolling Stones…you know I remember hearing Jumpin' Jack Flash and Brown Sugar…and from that point on all through like my high school years that's all I wanted to do."
On August 2, 1986 Cinderella released their debut album, NIGHT SONGS. Tom Keifer remembers when he shot the cover with photographer Mark Weiss. As Tom recalls, "It was shot in the historic district of Philadelphia … but the most interesting thing that I remember about that shoot was that the album was called NIGHT SONGS and Mark scheduled the shoot for day time.. and I kept saying to him..that's not going to look right and he said I shoot day for night and I didn't know what the f--k that meant...and I just trusted him because I kind of liked this guy right off the bat.. I thought he was a straight-up cat. And sure enough, when we got the pictures back it looked like it was nighttime.. So Mark Weiss is a f--------g genius."

Tom Keifer late biological father who was like Tom mother a School teacher and also musician was part German so Tom have German blood too, Tom real name is Carl Thomas Keifer he was born in my home state Philadelphia the friendly beautiful state he was born in Springfield Pennsylvania and I was born in Hershey Pennsylvania. When Cinderella was big i was in HS but i wasnt having any of the current rock, I was listening to a lot of the influences from the late 60's and 70's that Tom named in this video. Odd but ive only recently discovered him. He's definitely a stand out talent from an era of visual excess. The music quality suffered overall during the "visual excess" era of the 80's. Especially late 80's... But Tom was/is legit no doubt.

I love listening to his storys... Tom, Cinderella, was a major influence on me in junior high and high school. They are among my very favorite "hair bands". And in my opinion have the 2nd best love balled in rock history. To this day (30 years later) I still play Cinderella on my bass guitar.

If you never heard his band and you watched this interview then heard his band you'd be shocked! How does he get such a shrill screeching voice when his normal tone makes you think if he sings he would sound like Metallica or Molly Hatchet or something? ...wow. I wasn't into these guys back in the day but of course I love all 80's stuff today, it's funny b/c what Mr. Keifer is referring to about the MTV thing also hurt musicians images by making them superficial. I would never have guessed this guy was as deep, experienced, and as career committed as he is by watching his 80's band videos. Utube does today what MTV couldn't do then -give us the details and reality. I always thought Charlie Sexton was a one-album-wonder until I looked him up on here decades later, here he quit solo to play and tour with Dylan for decades now! ...again, wow

I always though Tom Keifer had a Steven Tyler influence in his vocals, though Tom didn't mimic anyone he has his own unique rocker voice. But the one tune I hear some hard rock Tyler vibes was in the awesome song (Nobody's Fool) I love it! Always will!
