They won't make another game because it won't sell like GTA and Red Dead did. Rockstar don't care about controversy, but the fact that Manhunt 2 cost the company so much money by being banned from all stores will make them not even consider touching this series anymore. I think that the Bully has met the same fate and never be made again. not because of the controversy, but because it won't sell like like GTA or read dead. It's sad that these are the only series Rockstar will probably make from now on.

@@madalindragan9569 What world are you living in? Rockstar will only do something if it makes them money, they don't give a crap about being edgy or black sheeps. Rockstar is closer to EA than being the "black sheep of gaming". Also the controversies around GTA games is what made them extremely popular and boosted their sales to insane levels. Bully never sold that well, this is why you never saw this game again and you never will. Why would they back down from making violent GTA games, they make money from them, I really don't see your point. And how does all that explain Rockstar making a casino out of GTA online? Pickman’s Bridge = Project Artichoke, a wing of the infamous CIA mind-control project known as MK-Ultra. Artichoke used LSD, like most of the MK-Ultra projects, as well as hypnosis and Pavlovian response training with the goal of creating assassins that could be turned on and off using visual and audio cues like a series of words or seeing something like a woman in a polka dot dress or reading the title of the book Catcher In The Rye. I bring up those specific examples of cues so you’ll have something to go by when you Google the conspiracy of how the project was actually a success. Happy hunting.

In Manhunt 2 defence I'm gonna say that 'Manhunt' is a unique vibe and Manhunt 2 does a great job delivering it. It feels like a 90's David Cronenberg's movie - sounds, music, themes, gore. M2 may have slight ludonarrative dissonance, but you'd wait decades to get a game that scratches that specific B-movie itch.

If I were to a new sequel, I would make manhunt 3 where Mr. Nasty knows David Joyner’s true identity and forces him to make snuff films trying to kill cash; as he tries to kill cash, they join up to take down Mr. Nasty because they find out he is a powerful government official behind the pikman project. Joyner finds out what happened to him and his family unlocking a new, more viscous side to him, much darker than Leo. The game would offer unique a co-op story with exclusive executions, or a single player story that differs with both people going their own way, allowing you to choose which journey you want to take.

19:28 when you first meet the police there is a scene where they kill some hood by beating him to death, so I wouldn't call them innocent. Same with orderlies etc. The premise is that The Project is corrupting the whole Cottonmouth City just like Umbrella did with Raccoon City. Every aspect of urban life is decaying under the thin layer of lies. This was heavily toned down in final version, but when you look for cut stuff or early interviews etc. you'll get that this game was suppouse to be quite diffrent.

Honestly, shame it didn't connect with the original snuff films storyline. Imagine if the MKultra project turned Daniel into a killer too gruesome to be used as a tactical assassin. He is locked up in the mental asylum. However, "too gruesome" is exactly what Mr.Nasty wants, so a corrupt guard from the asylum takes him out of there. Later Daniel breaks free from the mind control, now he murders because he wants, not because of the MKultra. Since Daniel broke free from the mind control, Mr.Nasty can no longer "turn off" Daniel's "murder mode". In a ironic fate, the film of Mr.Nasty being killed by Daniel is his most sold film. After that, is not clear what happened to Daniel, some says the police killed him, some says he still free, some even says he can't be killed because he is a demon.

11:15 One mistake, there is indeed a purpose for the levels of executions in Manhunt 2, *and* it actually determines the ending you get. _//Spoilers//_ As the player commits more gruesome executions and kills civilians, Kasper gains more influence on Lambs psyche, prepping to take ownership of Lamb's body and mind to complete his revenge. Alternative ending unlocked. Less gruesome kills, no civilians kills , Lamb acknowledges the damage Kasper has caused, (including making Lamb kill his wife in front of his kids), and mentally fights to forgive himself and remove Kasper from his brain as Lamb is physically in surgery. Happily ever after ending. Also outside of the civilians , no-one is innocent, the cops/orderlies are definitely corrupt, gangs are used as bounty hunters, all being paid off by the CIA/The Project to clean up their mistake off the record. Even the civilians in the residential area of the Domestic Disturbance level are said to all Project workers (however this said by Leo and is likely just him being bloodthirsty)

Great video! This was my introduction into the Manhunt series, and even though as of today, I like the first game more in terms of enemy variety and story, the gore in this game was taken to the extreme, and I loved how they did it. Some of the gameplay mechanics were also improved and added onto. The story, though it wasn't as good as the first game, was still a very interesting story, and hearing some of the real life influences behind the story of this game makes it much more interesting. I also loved your idea for a Manhunt 3. I think it would be great to be able to play as James Earl Cash again and try to track down the higher ups of Valiant Video, and go through yet another gauntlet of gangs, and possibly even meet Mr. Nasty for the first time ever since he wasn't even seen let along mentioned in the game itself, but only the manual and the promotional material.

(theory.) unsure if Manhunt 1 is a murder simulator... he was kidnapped and framed.. killings happened in the game, but was it murder? killings only happened during his time being kidnapping. against his kidnappers. was not all those gangs and mercenaries employed by "The Director" ? not trying to be an apologist for manhunt 1. did not mean to overthink it. and "justifiable homicide simulator" just does not roll off the tongue.

Been playing this on the PSP version since 2013, not sure if its still on the marketplace but thats where I got it. I prefer the PS2/PSP versions because the execution animations are extended, the PC ones are cut short. I think it would have had helped to have those base executions to be Leo's and have separate ones for Danny where he is fumbling around to kill them, would have made for more intriguing game play and subtle story changes 🤔

Pretty good video & well balanced imo. I never got a chance to play this game because it was flat out banned here & seeing the censored version added to my reluctance to play it. Even at the time you could feel that Rockstar didn't or couldn't get out from the weight of the controversy & gave up on it. Mind you this came out just after the Hot Coffee controversy in GTA & a new gen of consoles were being released & right before GTA4's release on those consoles. So the stars didn't align perfectly. I don't think they'll make a new one like you said. They make way too much money on GTA & RDR. However rumor is floating around on a Bully 2 game. Which would be equally fantastic.
@thehunter7422

This series has so much potential. I really hope Rockstar can give it the good ol' college try eventually. The whole violence and those early Karen's back in the day thankfully are basically over. You know with games like Grand Theft Auto and Mortal Kombat being famous and all lol and basically no big news stuff ever came again cause every time it was talked about, they were proven wrong lol. And of course Red Dead Redemption 2 being their newest game , the gore in that game was amazing . I just would love a sequel so badly . Hey maybe they can make a third game based on a whole new controversy corporation and at the end of it , all 3 of the main charecters James and Daniel end up meeting eachother at the end of the game then the next games are them planning heists on each organization one by one making it a long series . I would love to see that . Of course a sequel on James Earl Cash would be nice too 😁 so much lore in that game

okay, many might say, "oh, but the last of us 2 doesnt focus on murder. People kill because they're in a survival scenario." OK! But if u want to get a glimpse of what manhunt would be like these days, take a look at the executions of The Last of Us 2. It's graphically impressive (and even shocking, for the faint of heart).

I think Manhunt 2 Is pretty good, but my only problem with it was the amount of times you get forced into shooting. The executions, the animations, even the story Is pretty good, especially the acting which Is great. And I enjoyed the atmosphere with this game, it felt unsettling and creepy asf but lacked the music from the first. Edit: Just know that Manhunt 2 Is no masterpiece, I think the first Manhunt did a better job at everything else, now all of us are just hoping we’ll get a third instalment, and on that note rockstar needs to bring back their old IP’s from the dead tbh.

I remember when I was a kid and I had a PSP back when they were relevant and what every kid had. I once went to a caravan campsite in France with my family and I brought my chipped PSP with me. When I got into the room I was staying in and putting away all my stuff I had packed, I found a PSP memory card in a drawer with games on that somebody else had used on a chipped PSP and accidentally left behind. It had a few games on and lo and behold... One of those games was the uncut version of Manhunt 2☠️ Thing is, I was really young at the time and about 10 years old. I remember being chuffed about it and telling my Mum and she was happy for me that I essentially got some free games but little did she know that I was playing Manhunt 2 and I very well much knew I wasn't supposed to be playing it... First great video mate i loved it and ya know what i still have my orig day one australian copy with the old ratings logo and the one thing i always remember about this game wasn’t the violence it was the amazing voice work, how they would yell and scream at you... nothing like that was out there at the time....oh and let’s not forgot brian cox in your ear 😀 they should make another one, make it based on the old arnie film the running man 😉 also have any of you played the last of us part 2.. that has some of the most realistic killing in video games iv ever seen and that’s not just due to the gore ( with incredibly insane detail... seriously ) but also how the other ai react screaming the name etc honestly makes manhunt look mild in comparison...

I’m glad you touched on how the kills don’t make any sense in this compared to the original. With the snuff film aspect the executions felt like they at least had some sort of reason and cash felt like an actual killer. With Daniel he’s supposed to be “innocent” but he kills people in so many more vicious ways than Cash ever did.

This is the first time I've heard of the _Manhunt._ Just by watching this video, I think the game would've been slightly less controversial if it didn't have the Wii motion controls. I think the simulated act of violently murdering someone is what got Karens and Kevins up in arms. Acting out killing someone is over-the-line, but moving two joysticks to perform the same action is a-okay.
