Why can't eBay understand that their sellers are buyers too! Of course, the more sellers they piss off, the more sellers they lose as buyers.... but they can't connect THOSE dots!!! Probably wonder at times why more people buy from Amazon now, but then again, there's always a new group of buyers growing up, so maybe they don't even realize how much eBay COULD have grown in the time they've been screwing sellers over!

After a long argument with ebay telling me unfortunately thats the way ebay is set up I actually said to the rep " You mean to tell me I could buy a diamond ring, open a return, send them a box of rocks, and they have to refund me?, rep replied, " unfortunately that is the way ebay is set up, to which I replied, " well guess I will be buying some diamond rings! I have actually been struggling with return fraud quite a bit lately. Just today a lady sending pictures of a different pair of jeans saying there was a hole in the ones we sent her. I'm exploring unique solutions such as making my own clothing tags to tyvek wrist bands and even the use of a UV pen to mark clothing on the inside. Of course documenting the serial number of the wrist bands with extra pictures etc.. I'd really like to see a video on these types of things that can possibly be done to ward off the potential scammers.

Good stuff as usual. Also as an eBay seller never leave feedback first as the buyer the has leverage to try and ask for some of the money refund. I always tell them I will give them full refund if they return it to me. But of course they want to keep the item just want to scam some of the purchase money back from me. If you leave feedback first then you have lost any leverage. After I offer them a refund for return, they usually go away without incident as I don't ever refund partially without a return first. Sorry scammers no dice!

Your right, i hear that all the time which I'm guilty of doing. BUT I NEVER offer partial refunds unless its a dang good story or reason. I say "send it back for a full refund" period... they either go away, or they send it back. i don't play those scam partial refunds either

You must send the label with “Signature required” and when the item arrived yo your house... Seller tried scamming me, and probably others. Saying they were selling 16 oz smuckers jars and lids, pictures of all eight jars together. I of course assumed that in each order I'd be getting eight jars as the words implied plural not singular, right? Wrong, thinking that it sounded like a good deal I bought two orders.Well, I received 2 jars and I was also billed for shipping on each of the orders even though they came in the same package. So, I essentially bought two jars for seventeen dollars, you bet I got my money back.

I know this video is like 2yrs old, however, the scam still goes on! I sell on Ebay and I've some advice to all my fellow eBayers, you Have to have a Restocking fee and a return policy! your restocking fee should be around 50% so that when someone tries to scam you and they "send the Item back", you won't lose too much money because you'd be getting half of the cash back... Also, avoid contacting buyers and asking them if they liked the product or not because that opens a window of conversation and they wanna take advantage of that to say the Item doesn't look like what was described. Someone from India and another fella from Zimbabwe tried to pull a fast one on me because I didn't provide them with a tracking and there's no way that I will know if the items were received or not.. I told them I have a tracking number but unfortunately, I cannot provide it to them because It was free shipping and if they want me to send them the tracking number they need to pay extra $12. Two days later the India guy says, "how do turn off the sound"? and I said what sound he said the background noise, and I said so you have the product??? I never heard from him again.

@Crackajack69117 жыл бұрын
Recording yourself before and after is a good thing to do but most people don't realize that you have every right to open a returned item's box and inspect your product BEFORE you sign anything from whatever delivery service it comes from. If it is not the item that you shipped you can then not accept it and start a claim with Ebay and the delivery service company. Then you have video proof and a witness that you did not get your item back. Plus the cash stays in your account until Ebay is able to look into it and make a decision. Then the only one that is out of money is the person that was trying to scam you. The delivery guys will get irked waiting for you to inspect the item, they are on a pretty tight time schedule, but it is not their money or merchandise so they will just have to wait. you can set it up so any packages that are delivered to you HAVE to be signed before delivery.

I just saw your video. I have been a customer of eBay since 2014, I believe. I just started selling. I don’t make a business out of it, I just want to get rid of clutter. I had one item and someone offered me twice as much saying he would not be able to finish out the auction and that is why he offering me double. If that was ok with me he would then transfer or send a check. I sent a message to eBay without responding to the message telling eBay I believe this is a scam and would not be dealing with that customer. EBay sent me back a message “warning” that there is activity on my eBay that is not following their policy. No kidding! I thought I was sending them a notice about this person but I must have done something wrong. I am too smart to know someone is not going to the legit paying double and not following policy. He went as far as to ask for a partial money return when we said that was not our item. We happened to check his site and sure enough on sale in perfect condition was our original product serial # and all! Obviously he claimed it as an error but we made a report to eBay because he is likely doing this partial return of $$$ to a number of other sellers and making a killing scamming. Customer service agreed that the items were fine, but said they can't consider it. I ended up refunding in full. It was something that couldn't be returned because it was perishable. It would not be returned "as described", so I could never prove it was delivered alive(as described) other than the pictures which would not be considered. Maybe I just got an uninformed ebay rep? Yeah he did, however all ebay did was remove the negative feedback he left . No signs of the account being terminated. Can't post the account because of privacy reasons ect but it seems he's still on ebay. Possibly looking for another victim. First the money was automatically taken from my buddy's paypal, it was only after the appeal and sending proof that he got the return of his money. Which was $500. The return was from Ebay Inc, My buddy didn't really know how to resolve this matter so i pretty much tried to guide him through the entire ebay process as i was scammed myself one just like this. I once had a box returned with a cheap 1/64 toy car, which originall had a very rare limited editon 1/18 scale car mint in box with a value of $500+. It came with this message after the appeal: 'C*** ********** we've reversed the outcome for case (51*********)' 'Because we decided in your favor, this case, any feedback left, and all detailed seller ratings left, will not affect your seller performance. In addition, any feedback left for this transaction will be removed.' PS, i still have to sell a lot of vintage rc cars which all have a $600-$1200 value which pretty much only can be sold internationally as in my country 'Holland' there isn't enough people that are into this kind of thing. I'll be very precautions on every step of the sale. Not really looking foward to this as it still creeps my mind. Just parts of the items i'm about to sell are very expensive so its very prone to 'not as discribed' cases where people take parts away and send a return. Just a small gear of these rc cars i have in stock have a $150+ value.

Another good idea is...have your buyers use PayPal, PayPal have better protection for sellers. They will not release any refunds until the sellers get the item back in good condition. I never got scam using PayPal services.

What do you recommend to prevent a buyer returning the actual item you sold them, but after they smashed it?
@RockstarFlipper7 жыл бұрын
Take photos and video of the item if its expensive. keep serial number records. thats all you can do
@etunimi42067 жыл бұрын
Jebediah Springfield SERIAL NUMBER or anything to give proof that the item being recorded is the item you shipped. A pro lier will get the refund if you don't have any proof of sending the item being filmed

Speaking of rocks - don't buy any gemstones from India or Thailand: Chances are that you'll receive a piece of glass, cut glass, or a common stone that has been dyed to look like a certain gemstone using RIT Clothing Dye.

Remember, when this happens to you, you should also inform the USPS Postal Inspector! The FBI may actually be less likely to take action.

I bought a small makeup item (spent $35) from “Inspire Uplift” after seeing their ad on instagram. I waited 6 weeks to receive the item and eventually all I received was an empty box. I contacted them to let them know, they did not believe me and would not refund or replace the item. I contacted Paypal who immediately refunded me the money. Sellers are scammers too but usually the majority are honest. I now only buy in well reputed retail stores.

I sold an unwanted video game on ebay, and after the game arrived at their address, the buyer called their CC company and claimed the purchase was fraudulent, and PayPal took the money right out of my account to refund them. luckily I kept the shipping receipt, because once I sent proof to paypal that I did actually send the item, I was refunded within minutes and the buyer was banned from eBay. I'll definitely be using all these tips.

Yes, as long as you keep your receipts and records you can put a stop to a scammer trying to get over on you. thanks for your comment!!

Thanks for posting this but actually this could be part of a scam. You can always film yourself putting an iphone inside a box, preparing everything, putting the label etc and then, after finishing filming, you could unbox it, remove the phone and prepare everything again( this time without filming of course). Or you could receive the item, open it and the phone is there ( the buyer was right), then you put a rock inside another box, re use the labels from the package you received and you now can film yourself opening a box that you know has a rock put by you.

Do you offer returns on all your items? Or does it just depent on the item you are selling? Love the videos by the way thanks
@RockstarFlipper7 жыл бұрын
ALWAYS offer returns on eBay. If you dont the customer can still get a return and if you offer returns you get top rated discount so might as well offer it, since you have to honor it anyways

I know better than sell high priced items on ebay to begin with but since 2008 when I started selling on ebay I have always recorded myself packing the item and recorded all around the item as well to show condition, serial number ect. MORE IMPORTANTLY I always record myself OPENING the return. When ever possible I try to see the delivery company coming. With it usually needing my signature they think is so important to they're scam, I actually like that. I actually record the delivery person giving me the package and me signing for it and ask if the will wait one minute while I quickly video opening it with the still in the video! Shipped a $300 stereo once and the guy said it was damaged. He was probable looking for a discount. I am not a fool, I insured it! He didn't know I insured it because you NEVER tell the buyer you are insuring it or say it in the listing. Once I told him it was insured and he needs to report it to the post office he DISAPPEARED for ever! It didn't state it was insured on the label witch was great. I no longer sell high priced items on ebay, it is nothing but a shit hole for scams and the feedback system is just as bad a cesspool paradise for scammers.

I recently sold a Lous Vuitton satchel that was in storage 8 years along with 3 other LVS & 2 MICHAEL KORS from day this girl got it there were issues! Now remember it's been in storage 8 years, used 1 time so this LV is in pristine condition. She paid above listing price then claimed 3 different things in 3 messages!!! I caught on!!!! She was asking for a partial refund of $100 To cover the cost of having it cleaned as the 3rd msg claimed "now there's a lot of dust" in the purse!!! Thank fully I had taken pictures of it inside & out before shipping & during packing. I sent those photos to her in reply to her 3rd msg still even offering that she can return it & warning not to use it till the issue is taken care of, so she then put in a request to return. Btw I'm 1st time seller & was going to sell the rest of these purses on Ebay then close the account, which after this (as I informed Ebay) I will be closing the account for sure. I would go into more detail don't want this to become a book so just wanted to thank you as if she sends the purse back I will be following your instructions before opening.

I was a ebay member for 10+ years and my experience as a seller was awful. I was fraud-ed more often then not. Ebay did nothing to resolve buyer fraud and I lost my items and cash. I will never buy or sell on Ebay again.

The best thing to do is to use Ebay to BUY THINGS ONLY (with a credit card always ) and sell on Craigslist or any other method that doesn't require you shipping the item. Selling expensive stuff on Ebay is a time bomb it just a matter of time till you get scammed

just avoid buyers with zero or very low feedback rating. that will help somewhat to avoid these scumbags who just open a bs account and go into full blown as cam mode.

I got screwed by a buyer who bought my item just to send it back in order to prevent his account from being striked for an unpaid item. He said he didn't want the item because it was for the wrong kind of computer and refused to pay. Eventually he paid and I shipped. When he got the item he claimed it didn't work and sent it back and I lost the shipping money: there and back, and eBay kept their 10 percent so I lost 55 dollars in the end. The best thing was I got my video card back and It was working fine so I resold it and got good feedback. (I had previously made a deal with an ebay employee that he would reverse fees and shipping costs to me If I resell the item to someone else and get good feedback). When I tried to get my money back for shipping and even the 10 percent ebay fee and they doubled down and said they couldn't verify If it was the same video card or not so they are not responsible to fix their mistake. (Essentially claiming that I sold a broken video card at first, then sold an Identical model video card that was working to try and clear myself of wrongdoing) They have no evidence to suggest I did that but ignored the messages on their own platform of the buyer asking me to cancel because the video card was not for his computer and despite all that evidence Ebay wont help me out and in their view I'm the scammer. Is ebay on drugs?

I once got returned a box of rocks. The weight of the package was way off so I knew something was up. The item I sent weighed about 15 pounds and the rocks about 5. I took it to my local police department and had them open and document the contents. It still took ebay/paypal months to refund my money.

I've got 2 security cameras outside and another inside pointing at the door, so I've got footage of the delivery guy walking up to my house, handing it over from 2 angles, and I'll start recording on my phone while always keeping movement in the video so there's no argument of a static shot on the video being spliced together.
