Remember that for the first decade or more of their existence, the Rox drew over 4 million fans per year, always the most in baseball, for last-place teams. When they played in Mile High Stadium their first two years they would get 80,000 per game! The fans are there, the passion is there; the intelligence in the front office is what's lacking.

There’s a small core of diehards and a big group of casuals that enjoy the cheap tickets and always keep Coors pretty busy even if the team isn’t great. I remember being in 2nd grade and they held a big assembly in the gym during game 1 of the NLDS and the whole school watched the first 3 innings on a projector. Colorado loves their sports.

People are passionate about baseball here and they exploit it To the extreme. Colorado's a beautiful state but there aren't a lot of natives here anymore. People go to see their team play the shitty Rockies. It's beautiful here, and LoDo is pretty awesome. I will not be going to any more ball games until the Monforts (the worst owners in Professional sports history)sell the team.

I remember this. I was 12 years old. My dad took me out of school during the last week of the regular season so we could go watch the Rockies play. That was the only time my dad ever did anything like that, it was truly magical watching that last week live. Game 163 is still, to this day, the greatest baseball game I've ever seen. I screamed myself hoarse, and when Holliday scored the game winning run I just remember everybody jumping around, screaming, hugging each other, I still remember my dad and I, and some dude I didn't know all hugging each other and jumping up and down screaming, everybody high fiving each other, pure pandemonium.

That’s me but with the 6/23 game when we swept the Dodgers, on top of that it was my 3rd baseball game (first one since 2019 at a Giants-Padres game) and the first time I’ve seen my team win live, against the Dodgers, and I hate the Dodgers so it was so far the most exciting, and probably even the best thing that I’ve seen in my life so far, and just like you there was some dude who put $1,000 for rent on the game and he won his money, so I gave him and the group of college kids in front of me high fives, went home and wrote on the edge of my pennant the date and score of that game and I’ll hold those memories in my head forever

I remember a similar feeling just a different team. I'm a Cards fan and my dad took me to the last two games of the 2004 NLCS (I also got to skip school, which never happened cause my mom was a principal). When Edmonds walked off game 6 my dad and I screamed and hugged (I was 7). Love seeing people with similar memories. The magic of baseball.

That's the Only a significant part of their history. What the Monforts have done with the Rockies is absolutely horrendous. The 2007 season was a fluke, And we were utterly embarrassed in the World Series. Then they let Nolan Arenado, The greatest 3rd baseman of this era, Slip away. It's only going to get worse, But the Monforts absolutely don't care because everybody's gonna go to the ball game because this is a transient state and people go to watch the other team more than ours. I've said this before but I mean it this time I won't be going to any more ball games until they sell the team. Which sucks, because I love baseball.

I'll never forget that run in 2007. How excited I was as a little kid to hear my team, the Rockies, were going to the World Series. It's a shame they didn't do it back then. But one of these days the Rockies will do it again. That's the beauty of baseball. You can be all but out and then suddenly a team rattles off wins left and right, sweeping their way to a World Series.

I’m born and raised in Denver. Been going to Rockies games since I was a baby. My mom still has my Rockies onesie somewhere. I was 9 when all of this happened. I was at the double header against the Dodgers. I got on the big screen during the first game, and got upgraded to the first base line for the second game. Helton was my hero growing up and watching him hit that home run was something else. I was at game 162. I remember when they posted the final score on the scoreboard in right field from the Brewers v Padres game and the whole stadium lit up. I was supposed to go to one of the game 5s in Denver against the Phillies or the Diamondbacks, I don’t remember which one. We had the tickets and everything but obviously that game never happened lol. Thank you for this little trip down memory lane. Go Rockies 💜🖤

The Brewers had something to fight for too. The Brewers finished 2007 in 2nd place, 2 games behind the 1st place Cubs. For the Brewers, 2007 was their first winning season since 1992. The Brewers could have even clinched the NL Central. 2007 was a renaissance of sorts for both the Rockies and Brewers.

As a Rockies fan this will always be the highlight of our team since 93. The Blake street bombers were fun but even losing the World Series the run to get there 22 of 23 and sweeping both NL rounds will forever be untouchable to Rockies fans. Even a World Series win won’t erase how special it was

Looking back at this video, I relate the 2007 Rockies to the 2024 Tigers. Both teams are seemingly out of the playoffs as September rolls around but go on insane runs in the final month to clinch playoff berths. Plus both teams had payrolls in the bottom half of the league

I knew everything about every player, even the bench guys who I would regularly see at AAA Sky Sox games. I loved how home grown that team was. Great video man! I am a Rockies fan and has been a fan since 2007. Matt Holliday to this day is still my favorite player. I remember getting a Holliday T-shirt shortly after the 07 WS. I’ve lived in Colorado all my life and would never trade it for anything in the world. I’ll say this, the Rockies ownership is beyond terrible and the Monforts, NEED to go...like now. I remember watching the Rockies in 08 and 09 and just remembering how good our team really was (Helton, Tulo, Cargo, Fowler, Atkins, Barmes). Those seasons were epic and exciting for Rockies fans. In 2017, when Nolan hit that historic walk off cycle, you could feel something was going to happen that year. For the first time since 2010, I felt that the team had a great chance to make rocktober. Both 17 and 18 were great, fun seasons. Once we signed that stupid Arenado 8-year contract and dropping DJ and Otto, the Rockies were getting worse and worse. I thought 2019 was going to be the year we were finally going to win the division because we had one of the most scariest lineups in baseball. But we went 71-91. Monfort and bridich thought we didn’t need to fix anything from the previous season. They didn’t care about the team or fans, all they cared and care right now, is the money and revenue. Ok Monfort, Coors is a great ballpark to watch games and I always LOVE going to Denver to watch my hometown Rox, but can you please do your actual freaking job?! Plz! Instead of investing your time and effort into Coors and the experience, investing in your team and players is not a bad idea. I know we can win a World Series, just not with clowns like Monfort and bridich. Go Rox.

Hate to break it to you, but the problem with the current Rox isn't the pitching. It's the offense. And now with Arenado gone for little more than a middle-of-the-rotation starter and no offensive replacement, it's going to be a long, low-scoring season. Story will be traded by July, and we're going to be lucky to win 70 games.

3 years later, still no playoffs since 2018. Charlie Blackmon now retired, went his whole career only winning 1 singular playoff game, he started playing in 2011. The only constant has been the lees than cheap ownership knowing they will make money either way off the fan base because they buiilt an amazing stadium to see a game at. This is the first year in 32 year of my life that i didnt go to a game, just really didnt see much of a point giving this ownership more money this season.

As Red Sox fan, i can say that while the Rockies might have gotten swept but it wasn't an anti-climatic World Series by any means, With the exception of game 1, All the World Series games were tough games. 2 and 4 were 1 run affairs and Game 3 The Rockies came back late in the game to make the score 6-5 after trailing 6-0. Honestly i was on the edge of my seat for the final 3 games. The Rockies played respectably throughout the series.

I live in small town Colorado and remember rocktober like it was yesterday I was 17 at the time and was driving around with my girlfriend listening to game 4 of the nlcs on the radio, and when we won I rushed us to my house to put a broom in the flag stand on the front porch, hard to believe how long ago that was already

What hurt the Rockies was that they had to wait nearly a week before the World Series because the ALCS went the full 7 games even after Boston trailed 3-1. If Cleveland had won the series in five, I think Colorado keeps the momentum going.

Yes, I think this was one of the best examples of "rust vs. rest" debate. Had the Rockies lost a game or two, the series would have kept going and there'd be less time between the NLCS and WS. I do remember the WS being fairly competitive outside of the first game, so I don't think the Rockies necessarily played bad. But it's interesting to note that teams that sweep the LCS often don't do as well in the WS. Likely because you don't want to peak too early.

@@LILTJ008 I’m not a Rockies fan. I’m just saying the rust hurt them plus the experience of Boston. The Red Sox were the best team in baseball that year, but had to overcome a 3-1 deficit.

I had just turned 9 during this run and was infatuated with the team. I got to go to the Game 163 tiebreaker but my dad and I left after the padres took the lead in the 13th because it was late and we thought it was over. I can still remember the cheers as we walked to the light rail station. Have never left a game before it’s ended since. And although we came up short, Rocktober will always be an all time great CO sports moment

As a baseball fan who at an early age chose to root for both the Seattle Mariners and Colorado Rockies, you can probably imagine I have had almost nothing to cheer for. But for that one month in 2007, that was everything. Crazy thing was, I went to visit family in Denver during that run. We went to the only game they lost in that run, the 4-2 Arizona loss. But the excitement was beyond amazing. It sucks that they lost the spark against Boston, but I'll always be proud to look back at that team.

The fact the Rockies came back from several games behind a wildcard spot, came back down 8-6 in the 13th inning of game 163, and still made the world series is incredible. Obviously, the inevitable in the form of the Boston Red Sox was sure to come but this is very special.

As a 16 year old fan of the Rockies, I've never really had anything to be excited about with this team. This video had me more invested in this team than any season I can remember watching. Not sure if that says a lot about how well made this video is, or how bad the Rockies have been. Oh well, I just hope they win a world series in my lifetime.

This happened when I was graduating high school. Roctober was a fever pitch. This video left out the fact we moved so quickly through the playoffs up until that point we had nearly two weeks off until the WS. We went cold not playing a game for that long after being so hot.

Great mini-doc. I was at that first home game vs Montreal with my dad. I was about 7 years old. We still have all the memorabilia from that game. The framed season opener tickets with all the alternate artwork is my favorite, also a baseball and some hats. I lost my dad last year so seeing that opening shot of the stadium stirred up some emotions knowing me and my old man are in there somewhere. I thought it was lame that I couldn't tell people I was at their first game ever. Dumb league made them open their inaugural season with a road series.

@@Chasstful altitude is our biggest enemy. It’s the reason most great pitchers won’t play for the Rockies. They don’t want their numbers to balloon up. Even with the humidor for storing the balls, it’s still a hitter’s park.
