Remember that for the first decade or more of their existence, the Rox drew over 4 million fans per year, always the most in baseball, for last-place teams. When they played in Mile High Stadium their first two years they would get 80,000 per game! The fans are there, the passion is there; the intelligence in the front office is what's lacking.

There’s a small core of diehards and a big group of casuals that enjoy the cheap tickets and always keep Coors pretty busy even if the team isn’t great. I remember this. I was 12 years old. My dad took me out of school during the last week of the regular season so we could go watch the Rockies play. That was the only time my dad ever did anything like that, it was truly magical watching that last week live. Game 163 is still, to this day, the greatest baseball game I've ever seen. I screamed myself hoarse, and when Holliday scored the game winning run I just remember everybody jumping around, screaming, hugging each other, I still remember my dad and I, and some dude I didn't know all hugging each other and jumping up and down screaming, everybody high fiving each other, pure pandemonium.
@Padre6193 жыл бұрын
That’s me but with the 6/23 game when we swept the Dodgers, on top of that it was my 3rd baseball game (first one since 2019 at a Giants-Padres game) and the first time I’ve seen my team win live, against the Dodgers, and I hate the Dodgers so it was so far the most exciting, and probably even the best thing that I’ve seen in my life so far, and just like you there was some dude who put $1,000 for rent on the game and he won his money, so I gave him and the group of college kids in front of me high fives, went home and wrote on the edge of my pennant the date and score of that game and I’ll hold those memories in my head forever

That's the Only a significant part of their history. What the Monforts have done with the Rockies is absolutely horrendous. The 2007 season was a fluke, And we were utterly embarrassed in the World Series. Then they let Nolan Arenado, The greatest 3rd baseman of this era, Slip away. It's only going to get worse, But the Monforts absolutely don't care because everybody's gonna go to the ball game because this is a transient state and people go to watch the other team more than ours. I've said this before but I mean it this time I won't be going to any more ball games until they sell the team. Which sucks, because I love baseball.

Great video man! I am a Rockies fan and has been a fan since 2007. Matt Holliday to this day is still my favorite player. I remember getting a Holliday T-shirt shortly after the 07 WS. I’ve lived in Colorado all my life and would never trade it for anything in the world. I’ll say this, the Rockies ownership is beyond terrible and the Monforts, NEED to go...like now. I remember watching the Rockies in 08 and 09 and just remembering how good our team really was (Helton, Tulo, Cargo, Fowler, Atkins, Barmes). Those seasons were epic and exciting for Rockies fans. In 2017, when Nolan hit that historic walk off cycle, you could feel something was going to happen that year. For the first time since 2010, I felt that the team had a great chance to make rocktober. Both 17 and 18 were great, fun seasons. Once we signed that stupid Arenado 8-year contract and dropping DJ and Otto, the Rockies were getting worse and worse. I thought 2019 was going to be the year we were finally going to win the division because we had one of the most scariest lineups in baseball. But we went 71-91. Monfort and bridich thought we didn’t need to fix anything from the previous season. They didn’t care about the team or fans, all they cared and care right now, is the money and revenue. Ok Monfort, Coors is a great ballpark to watch games and I always LOVE going to Denver to watch my hometown Rox, but can you please do your actual freaking job?! Plz! Instead of investing your time and effort into Coors and the experience, investing in your team and players is not a bad idea. I know we can win a World Series, just not with clowns like Monfort and bridich. Go Rox.

Hate to break it to you, but the problem with the current Rox isn't the pitching. It's the offense. Yes, I think this was one of the best examples of "rust vs. rest" debate. Had the Rockies lost a game or two, the series would have kept going and there'd be less time between the NLCS and WS. I do remember the WS being fairly competitive outside of the first game, so I don't think the Rockies necessarily played bad. But it's interesting to note that teams that sweep the LCS often don't do as well in the WS. Likely because you don't want to peak too early.

As a 16 year old fan of the Rockies, I've never really had anything to be excited about with this team. This video had me more invested in this team than any season I can remember watching. Not sure if that says a lot about how well made this video is, or how bad the Rockies have been. Oh well, I just hope they win a world series in my lifetime.

Thank you for making this. Brings back so many memories of the most unlikely postseason run in history.

This happened when I was graduating high school. Roctober was a fever pitch. This video left out the fact we moved so quickly through the playoffs up until that point we had nearly two weeks off until the WS. We went cold not playing a game for that long after being so hot.

The World Series is the summit, but it’s easy to forget just what it takes to win a pennant in Major League Baseball. Much less sweep the entire post season run on your way to the World Series.

Great mini-doc. I was at that first home game vs Montreal with my dad. I was about 7 years old. We still have all the memorabilia from that game. The framed season opener tickets with all the alternate artwork is my favorite, also a baseball and some hats. I lost my dad last year so seeing that opening shot of the stadium stirred up some emotions knowing me and my old man are in there somewhere. I thought it was lame that I couldn't tell people I was at their first game ever. Dumb league made them open their inaugural season with a road series.

You forgot to mention that the Seattle mariners are the only team to have never made it to the world series among those teams... Pain Yeah I'm a long suffering mariners fan, at least the rockies made it to the world series, hopefully things turn around for them they're not looking good right now, They're pretty good at developing talent though.

Altitude is what its al about. Its why the Rockies are the most irrelevant franchise in MLB.

Yeah really good at developing talent for other teams, basically a farm team for St Louis. It’s sucks.
@serenausagi6763 жыл бұрын
@@Chasstful altitude is our biggest enemy. It’s the reason most great pitchers won’t play for the Rockies. They don’t want their numbers to balloon up. Even with the humidor for storing the balls, it’s still a hitter’s park.

Such a great time to be a Rockies fan. Storefronts with Rocktober signs in the windows. Little old ladies with their purple ball caps on. It was electric to say the least!
