This place is beautiful! A lot of trees, calm traffic, and I can hear the birds singing.. Very peaceful 💆🏻♂️

Yeah..... You're only seeing a very tip of the triangle of Rockville and this is probably the most pleasant of that drive and it's in the least busy part at this time of day but normally Rockville was extremely chaotic lots of sirens cops flying around people walking across the street during green lights and it's pretty hectic and on top of that you have three Metro stations that run through it so it can be pretty nuts.

I grew up in Rockville in the 60s and 70s. Moved away from MD in 1988. Its unrecognizable from your video. Gude was just a two lane road back then, there were corn fields where all those trees and buildings are on W. Gude. And the Shady Grove theater (a big round building were I saw Sony and Cher perform). Montgomery donuts was nearly all alone on E. Gude. Georgia avenue turned into a two-lane road once past Bel Pre. It was all fields and trees until you got to Olney. Amazing what changes happen in just 30 years.

Germantown had its growth spurt in the 1990s, and Clarksburg in the 2010s. Meanwhile traffic has gotten atrocious on 270 and the Beltway as well as local roads.

Thank you for the video. Technically, when you took the left turn onto Shady Grove Road off Gaither Road (King Farm), you were in Gaithersburg, MD. In 20 years ago, The King Farm was annexed into Rockville. You drove past the Middleton Tavern, but you missed it in your video. The Middleton Tavern is historically significant, as is the park across from the Courthouse that also appears in your video. A bit of history: in June 1863, (Calvary) General J.E.B. Stuart captured Rockville along with 175 wagons containing the Union payroll and other supplies. The formed a wagon train to get the supplies to Carlisle, PA on June 28. On July 1, 1863 the battle of Gettysburg started. General Stuart was delayed getting to Gettysburg until July 2, 1863 because of the wagon train. It is generally believed that the South lost Gettysburg because of General J.E.B. Stuart’s capture of Rockville. Rockville is a great “all American” city. 93% have graduated HS, and over 80% have some college, and 65% have college or advance degrees. Average household income in 2019 was a tad over $106,500. Median home price is $658,000, and our schools rate among the best in the USA year after year. In 2019, Rockville ranked: #3 best places to live in MD, #4 most richest city.

You'll regret it unless you're prepared to sit in traffic 90% of the time and hear sirens about the same percentage and pay sky high rent prices or ridiculously high prices for homes. I grew up here and was even a paramedic here for 911 for almost 10 years so I know the area in and out and there's a Metro system that runs through it too and I'm not sure what day of the week this person is driving through these spots but it looks like a Sunday early afternoon because I don't think I've ever seen it this slow. Oh you'll see what I'm talking about when you move here next year and you ride on 355 and you don't go above 15 mph ever!!

There are more people from NY here than there are native Marylanders, so you should feel right at home. I live on W. Montgomery, west/opposite of the drive shown. Weekday traffic for the courthouses and county office building starts at 4:30 am and backs up bumper to bumper by 5:30am. We are on under an air highway between Andrews/White House and Camp David and less than 2 miles from an Interstate highway there is talk of widening. You'll pay for parking almost everywhere. It used to be a nice place ... long, long ago.

I love Rockville, Maryland. The only problem is it's too expensive to live in. I'm very close to Rockville, in Baltimore. I can always dream.
@Afr069-s8l3 жыл бұрын
Rockville is a nice area in Maryland, the only problem is that it's close to the D.C Metro and I-270. This means that more often than not, traffic is terrible throughout the city. Also, prices are about 30-40% higher than the rest of Maryland, you get significantly less property for your money moving to MoCo. On top of that, people are very detached from the rest of the state here, always acting like they're God's gift to the state. Maybe next time you should drive through parts of Maryland not on the I-95 corridor, if you want to see beautiful towns and drives you could always go to Annapolis, Prince Frederick or even places like Salisbury. They may have sparse populations, but a lot of places in those cities are rich with history and nice people, compared to newer developed regions like the D.C Metro area.
@MileageMikeTravels3 жыл бұрын
Good info. I definitely want to check out the rest of the state when I have time. I did get a chance to see Annapolis. That one is coming soon. Very nice place.
@marylandman122 жыл бұрын
The only reason why the cost of living in Rockville is because of the wealth. When you have higher income residents, the cost income. And it's not just Rockville; but each suburb surrounding Rockville and the D.C. metro area also have a higher income level.

This person didn't drive on the other side of the train tracks ..the poorer part of Rockville. They only drove around the bourgeois neighborhoods. Rockville does a great job of hiding its homeless population.. . Nor did this driver show you the abomination and traffic jams of Rockville Pike and 270 which borders Rockville... Take some videos of the bumper to bumper traffic on 270.... I'm trying to get out of Rockville it's lost its soul to developers

There isn’t a real downtown in Rockville. There are a few stores that serve the immediate community and law offices and a very nice library. It is heavily car dependent.
@johnfoltz81833 жыл бұрын
There used to be a downtown Rockville, but it was cleared out in the late 60s for a dead on arrival mall that limped along to 1995.

Rockville doesn't have a downtown in any traditional sense. I remember coming here in 1973 and looking for it. We never found it, because it didn't exist. What you drove thru has been recently created, but there's no sense of a city center.
Look real shot I'm from moco yes nice video but this nigga just drove through downtown by the court house where they got more niggas in chains then slavery. Across the street they got first street up the street from there is 124 which is g burg then up from there is Germantown very nice but don't get it twisted you will get your issue. Thank you welcome to moco
