There is not a very easy answer. The graphic equalizer is best used amplifying and or modifying a basic signal before the built in amplification. Some signals are too weak [ phonograph turntable units - unamplified ] as produced to allow sufficient amplification to match other users of the amplifier, such as tape players or cd players. A receiver produces a signal that cannot be intercepted by a graphic equalizer before going to the integrated amplifier unless it is designed to output that signal [ through jacks built in to the unit ]

NO XLR or 1/4 inch I O that's deal breaker sadly it's only RCA in's and Out's.
