Thank you for showing me the clamp set up. I was going to do the same thing, but was hesitant because it seemed like I was the first one to do it.

Safety guards are not something to be taken for granted, this appears to be an accident waiting to happen.

I agree 100%, got this shaper as a trade for a project and parts aren't readily available. I've since sold it but was super cautious every time I used it and thank God, never had an accident!

He flips the workpiece, but I don’t see him change the sacrificial backing wood. So the second cut tears out when it exits the workpiece.
@dutchjohn1950 Жыл бұрын
As long as the piece is registered tightly against the backer board none of the pieces cut after do not have any tearout. I sold the machine several years ago but no problems with tear out. I've gotten lots of flak about no safety guards so I suppose I should be "socially responsible" and mention they should be used!

Hello Daniel, it's no problem using 3/4" cutters with bushings but Grizzly tools carries quite a few in 1/2" : www.grizzly.com/search?q=(1+AND+2+AND+shaper+AND+cutter)+OR+(1+OR+2+OR+shaper+OR+cutter)

I have one too, anyluck finding the cutters?

Don't use this shaper for cutting raised panels. The 1/2" spindle and bearings can't handle it. I know 3/4" bore raised panel cutters sometimes come with T-bushings. That setup is too dangerous. Trust me.

Old Craftsman cutters are 1/2" bore. I doubt any are carbide tipped though. I have a few that I use for small jobs.

John, Do you still have this shaper? I have questions about the motor

I do!

@@dutchjohn1950 Awesome, I have a Rockwell Shaper with a 1 hp motor. #62-003. The capacitor is toast. Unfortunately, the vintage lable on the capacitor is unreadable. Could you possibly take a picture of your capacitor with the numbers I need so I can replace mine and get I running again.
@dutchjohn19503 жыл бұрын
@@hiremyhandyhusband6072 I looked through my original manual and it doesn't give the part number. Also checked on line, there are several places that still have parts but ..... capacitor is obsolete! To get to the capacitor I think I need to remove that cover on the side of the motor right? The one screw is hard to access. Did you remove your motor to get to the capacitor?
@hiremyhandyhusband60723 жыл бұрын
@@dutchjohn1950 Yes, I did remove the cover. I have tried to find information online, but I am having a difficult time finding anything. Some blogger said that it had to be exact which is why I asked for your numbers written on the capacitor on your motor. I appreciate you looking at your manuals. Thanks, Paul

@@hiremyhandyhusband6072 Merry Christmas, I've removed the cover and taken some good pictures of the capacitor for you. Not able to add pictures to this reply but if you email me at eugster96@cox.net I'll be glad to send them to you -- John

I still have all ten, he says. Haha! Better than bragging about being a real cabinetmaker with only 7. I've seen that before and it's a bit wrong headed. I'll watch part 2 and hopefully learn about hp on this little machine.
