The opening montage with eye of the tiger playing always gets me hyped. Also a fun fact, when Mr T attended the movie premiere with his mother, she was so mad at the things he said to Adrian, she turned to him and said “I did not raise you to talk to a lady like that” then walked out of the theatre.

Mr. T used to appear in comedy bits on Conan's show, sometimes giggling like a little girl. The Clubber Lang character in this movie is sort of the personification of toxic masculinity. 1:42 Great question. Stallone wanted Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” for the opening, but they were gonna charge an exorbitant amount. So he reached out to the band Survivor and they wrote “Eye of the Tiger” and ended up with an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.

Re: the opening song (someone else has probably answered this, but on the off-chance they haven't). That opening montage was originally cut together to Queen's 'Another One Bites The Dust' but when Stallone approached Queen to buy the publishing rights, they wouldn't give them - they wanted to own their own songs - so they only offered to licence it to him for the film. Sly wanted to own all the music in his film so he declined. He then approached Survivor to give him something similar and sent them the first cut of the film. When they heard that phrase in the film, they knew they had a title, and wrote a song around it. The opening montage wasn't recut, but left as is, because Survivor wrote Eye of the Tiger to the exact same tempo and drum beat. Turn the sound down and cue up Another One Bites The Dust and it'll fit perfectly.

Yes Eye of the tiger was written specifically for this movie Just like Axel F was written for Beveryly Hill's cop. I love Talia inthis, I love the message of her speech that he had to want to do it for himself. That they have cars and money. That she wanted the truth and for him to admit that he was "afraid." I love that admission cause it's hard for a man to admit it let alone a man whose very job is to be unbeatable and fear no man on earth. Could you imagine the idea of feeling, there's no human on earth that can defeat me? then to be humbled publicly. Another thing i love the wrestling in this because now that i get the showmanship aspect of wresting as physical soap opera entertainment i get the entire idea of Thunderlips making it an over the top spectacle. He literall says "that's the name of the game." That's wrestling, It's chair shots and throwing people over the ropes and going into the crowd. That's how they make it sensational.

About every decade, people come to the realization that wrestling is scripted and choreographed. Going all the way back to the earliest days of professional wrestling at the beginnings of the 20th century. Although it is mostly scripted, there's solid evidence that all professional sports is scripted to some extent. These are multi billion dollar enterprises today. It would almost be foolish not to have an end objective aimed for when multiple billions are on the line. That's also why there are fans that prefer the lower semi pro, amateur, or collegiate levels of sports cause those athletes are still hungry but still small scale enough not to have major influencers pulling strings behind the scenes.

Muhammad Ali was a relative unknown when he first challenged the heavyweight champ. His larger than life personality was inspired by the wrestlers who would rant long and loud how they would crush their opponent. That personality got the attention of the heavyweight champ who agreed to step into the boxing ring to shut Ali up, but quickly found he was outmatched by the Black Superman. The champion even tried to cheat by putting a chemical on his glove that blinded Ali. Ali almost had to forfeit but his sweat cleared his eye and Ali won the tittle on his very first nationally broadcast boxing match! Years later towards the end of Ali’s career, an unknown boxer named Chuck Wepner stepped into the ring with Ali. As the rounds dragged on and Ali kept landing blow after blow, it was clear that Wepner wasn’t trying to beat Ali, but go the distance with him. Wepner made it all the way to the 15th round where he lost to a Technical Knockout. Stallone was watching that night and said that the fight was his inspiration for Rocky Balboa.
