The pixel art characters and backgrounds is quite detailed. Pretty impressive for a 1993 game.

Bit of trivia for the folks worried about those faces. In Japan they got alot of American media where black people were drawn like that during the american occupation, but none of it explained the whole cultural backround of that imagery. Many Japanese mangaka (manga author/artist) would use that style to draw black people right up into at least the 1980's until said cultural backround became more comon knowledge abroad. In the Manga cyborg 009 for example, The character 008 was drawn in this style originaly dispite at least an entire arc having it's main theme being how much of a problem racism is for the world (especialy in the 60s, when the manga was made). When asked about why this is, the mangaka Shotaro Ishinomori broght up the afore mentioned lack of cultural context. I would also specualte that a reason many manga artists chose to use this style was probably because it also made it so that, in black and white manga pages (wich practicaly all of them were for cost reasons and because of the paper that was available) one could draw a character with black skin without having to worry about the mouth turning invisible or losing expresion detail. Because of all this these designs became accepted as simply an efficient and expressive way of drawing black people for many years. So it's reasonable to assume that the artists for this game wre simply drawing cartoony people who were black in a in a way that was common at the time. Also the face readablility issue I mentioned may have caused them to see this style as effective for low-resolution faces.

Ok so it's not bad, the second fight with the Bat was quite creative and threw me of thinking it be just a one stage platform fight. But Garcia just walks away...it's such an odd choice to make to have the lead antagonist (and behind the crime and kidnapping) to just go, rushed, out of ideas, who knows?

Rocky Rodent - The one Sonic/Mario-clone that's arguably worse than Bubsy. It's honestly surprising how bad the dialogue gets in this game. Don - "The power of your hair is very impressive."

ok first of all bubsy isn't the worst (just because that crap was born in 3D there's no need to get angry, at least his 2D games are nice) secondly, just because he's fast doesn't mean he's a sonic clone otherwise we would have him seen rolling and hitting robots that come out animals and would collect chaos emeralds to transform (which he never does in his game) and third, mario what does it have to do with him and a plumber who jumps on enemies and defeats a strange fire-breathing horned turtle and save the princess🤨🤨🤨? Rocky does none of that! and the dialogues are cute, I love this game
